NCRI – As the state of economy deteriorating in Iran under the clerical rule workers are feeling the pressure more than any other section of the society. There are widespread protests and strikes by workers around the country demanding their unpaid wages and higher salaries. The workers have also been protesting against discriminatory policies of the religious rule in the country.<\/p>\n
According to state-run news agency Fars on June 13, workers in Chel Electric which produces light bulbs gathered outside the governor’s office in Mazandaran province, northern Iran. They demanded their unpaid wages in the past 20 months. One of the protestors complained that since the closure of the company the workers have been living in an uncertain state.<\/p>\n
Workers at Iran-Transfo in Zanjan, western Iran, have been on strike since Saturday in protest against discriminatory policies imposed at the factory, reported Jomhouri daily, June 13.<\/p>\n
Workers at Meybod Steel factory in Yazd demonstrated outside the governor’s office in protest against their uncertain status following their lay off by the factory management. Kayhan daily, June 13, reported that they have been out of work for three months and the management has done nothing to meet with their demands.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
