Skirmishes between women and suppressive forces in Tehran<\/strong><\/p>\nThe brave women and youth protesting in Tehran, who had been attacked by the suppressive State Security Forces, began skirmishes with the regime’s elements in Fatemi Square at 5 pm local time.<\/p>\n
The anti-riot forces, as well as regime’s other suppressive forces, fired tear and pepper gas and were shooting into the air in an attempt to disperse the women.<\/p>\n
Protestors chanted: “The one who splashes acid is a regime element \u2013 we lack security”, “Support us, support us, splashing acid is a crime”, and “Security force, shame, shame”.<\/p>\n
Similarly, a few hours ago at Azadi Square, courageous women and youth staged a protest gathering renouncing the crimes committed by gangs associated with the regime. The protestors chanted: “Veiling cannot be forced, shame, shame, where are the eyes of my sister? (Referring to those women who lost their eyesight due to acid attacks)”<\/p>\n
The suppressive security forces surrounded the protestors and arrested a number of them.<\/p>\n
The protests in Tehran today were held while herds of IRGC and suppressive forces from various organisations had been massively stationed in various parts of Tehran, including in Takht-e Tavous Street, Fatemi Square, Fatemi Street and Valiassr Square. They were in vehicles, on foot and also riding on motorcycles.<\/p>\n

\nWomen and youth in Mashhad and Rasht join protests against acid attacks<\/strong><\/p>\nA large number of women and youth in Mashhad (northeastern Iran) assembled in the city\u2019s Mellat Park to protest against the heinous crime of mullahs\u2019 regime gangs who have been throwing acid on the face of Iranian women and girls.<\/p>\n
As more people joined the protest, the suppressive security forces cordoned off the park in fear of the protest expanding. They also attacked and battered the crowd. A number of women were arrested and taken to an unknown location.<\/p>\n
The suppressive forces have taken control of the park and have prevented the gathering of the huge crowd present in the surrounding streets and have obstructed them from entering the park.<\/p>\n
In the city of Rasht, hundreds of protesting women and youth started to assemble around noon on Saturday and demonstrated near the Shadi Park. The suppressive intelligence and security forces attacked the crowd and tried to disperse them, but the people continued with their protest march. Sporadic clashes between the people and the security forces have been reported in front of the Science University.<\/p>\n

\nIranian lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh arrested<\/strong><\/p>\nAgents of the Iranian regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) on Saturday, October 25 arrested Ms. Nasrin Sotoudeh outside the Interior Ministry while she was protesting against the recent wave of brutal acid attacks on women and girls.<\/p>\n
The clerical regime had already revoked Ms. Sotoudeh’s license for practicing law for three years for defending a number of Iranian political prisoners.<\/p>\n
After the Iranian regime’s State Security Forces prevented a gathering from taking place outside the Interior Ministry, protesting Tehran residents gathered in the northern flank of Laleh Park in the city’s Dr. Fatemi Street.<\/p>\n
This gathering was also attacked by the suppressive forces and many women were severely battered and a number of them were arrested and transferred to an unknown location.<\/p>\n
NCRI Women’s Committee Chair Ms. Sarvnaz Chitsaz called on all human rights and women’s rights organizations to condemn the arbitrary arrests of women and to take immediate measures to secure the release of Ms. Sotoudeh and the other women arrested.<\/p>\n

\nWomen protesting acid attacks clash with security forces<\/strong><\/p>\nAt 14:00 local time in Tehran, women and young people gathered outside the Interior Ministry in Fatemi Street in protest. They chanted “shame on you State Security Forces”, “State Security Forces where the eyes of my sisters are?”<\/p>\n
The rally turned into clashes with State Security Force and several Tehran residents were arrested. The massive presence of the forces prevented the formation of a large gathering.<\/p>\n
Earlier, at 10:00, a group of students gathered on Enghelab Square and shouted “we must punish the perpetrators of this brutal crime.” The Security forces attacked the group and arrested a number of the students.<\/p>\n

In Tehran, the State Security Forces are stationed outside the interior ministry. They have been alerted to the possibility of protesters arriving in response to the recent wave of acid attacks.<\/p>\n
The regime is resorting to various tactics, including intimidation and deception, to prevent people from gathering in protest.<\/p>\n

Tehran\u2019s governorate, in order to intimidate people, has announced that gathering for a protest is illegal since a permit has not been authorised for any event.<\/p>\n
