Iran has brought in a new law on the ‘Promotion of virtue and prevention of vice’ in the latest repressive measure against women.<\/p>\n

The regime’s paramilitary Basij forces and Revolutionary Guards will enforce the new rules which include arrest and punishment for women who break Iran’s draconian dress code.<\/p>\n

A recent spate of human rights abuses, acid attacks and stabbing of women, which met with widespread protests across Iran, have been justified by the regime as ‘promoting virtue.<\/p>\n

The state-run Fars News Agency said regime MPs debated details of the new law on December 9 and ratified the remaining articles.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Regime’s statewide\u00a0news agencies reported that the members of the headquarters for the ‘Promotion of virtue and prevention of vice’, including six ministers of Rouhani’s cabinet are:<\/p>\n

  1. A Friday prayer mullah of the regime in Tehran<\/li>\n
  2. Minister of Interior<\/li>\n
  3. Minister of Intelligence<\/li>\n
  4. Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance<\/li>\n
  5. Minister of Education<\/li>\n
  6. Minister of Science, Research and Technology<\/li>\n
  7. Minister of Industries and Mines and Business<\/li>\n
  8. Two members of parliament as picked by Committee on Cultural Affairs as observers<\/li>\n
  9. The plenipotentiary representative of Head of Judiciary<\/li>\n
  10. Head of Regime\u2019s television and radio<\/li>\n
  11. Head of mullah\u2019s Propaganda Organization<\/li>\n
  12. Commander of security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran<\/li>\n
  13. Head of the Basij forces<\/li>\n
  14. Head of the regime\u2019s Friday prayer Imams\u2019 headquarters<\/li>\n
  15. Two clerics as selected by the mullah\u2019s Supreme Council of Seminary<\/li>\n
  16. A cleric as selected by the regime\u2019s \u201cSupreme Council of Women Seminary\u201d<\/li>\n
