{"id":18115,"date":"2015-03-24T14:52:08","date_gmt":"2015-03-24T14:52:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news1613067580\/news-sp-256\/iran-a-world\/18115-eu-to-sanction-40-iran-regime-shipping-companies"},"modified":"2023-01-15T03:59:03","modified_gmt":"2023-01-15T02:59:03","slug":"eu-to-sanction-40-iran-regime-shipping-companies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-a-world\/eu-to-sanction-40-iran-regime-shipping-companies\/","title":{"rendered":"EU to sanction 40 Iran regime shipping companies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"IRISL-300\" class=\" size-full wp-image-42893\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/03\/IRISL-300.jpg\" alt=\"IRISL-300\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The European Union is set to put 40 shipping firms controlled or otherwise linked to the Iranian regime Shipping Lines (IRISL) back on a list of sanctioned groups, Reuters reports.<\/p>\n<p>The 40 companies includes Hamburg-based Ocean Capital Administration GmbH, that were previously placed on the EU&#8217;s sanctions list.EU says these companies were controlled or otherwise linked to top national carrier the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL), which had previously been blacklisted.<\/p>\n<p>In January, the bloc&#8217;s second highest court annulled EU sanctions on the 40 shipping companies and an Iranian bank.<\/p>\n<p>In letters dated March 12 and seen by Reuters that were sent by the European Council to the shipping firms&#8217; lawyer, the Council said the reasons for the intended re-listings included the companies being owned or controlled by IRISL or for providing training, spare parts and services to IRISL or IRISL employees.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Consequently, the Council intends to designate your clients again,&#8221; the letters said.<\/p>\n<p>An EU diplomat told Reuters on Tuesday: &#8220;The (EU) Council looks at every judgment carefully and explores all choices available.
