The participants <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/ncri-statements\/international\/18807-mogherini-s-iran-trip-encourages-more-executions\">denounced the trip to Tehran<\/a> on Tuesday of European Union foreign policy chief Ms. Federica Mogherini and the failure of the European Union to speak out against the rise in the level of executions in Iran.<\/p>\n<p>In the first half of 2015 alone, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/human-rights\/18814-another-2-hanged-in-iran-10-more-on-death-row\">regime in Iran has executed over 700 people<\/a>, the equivalent of one person every seven hours. More than 1,800 people have been taken to the gallows during Hassan Rouhani&#8217;s presidency.<\/p>\n<p>Monday\u2019s online panel included the Honorable Mr. Giulio Terzi, former Foreign Minister of Italy; Senator Lucio Malan, Secretary of the presidency of the Italian Senate; Mr. Struan Stevenson, former President of the European Parliament&#8217;s delegation for relations with Iraq and current President of the European Iraqi Freedom Association (EIFA); Prof. Donna Hughes, leading international researcher on human trafficking from the University of Rhode Island; Mr. Bruce McColm, President of the Institute for Democratic Strategies; Mr. Peter Murphy, co-secretary of Australian Supporters of Democracy in Iran; and Mr. Mohammad Mohaddessin, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/about\/our-resistance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"alternate noopener noreferrer\">National Council of Resistance of Iran<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The panel answered dozens of questions from international journalists.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=T0_nruMkbuw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"alternate noopener noreferrer\">You can watch the clip of the event here<\/a><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=T0_nruMkbuw<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NCRI &ndash; European lawmakers, U.S. human rights experts and an official of the Iranian Resistance on Monday held a live online conference and Question and Answer session on the appalling state of human rights in Iran and the steps the international community must take in response.
