{"id":18922,"date":"2015-08-12T14:52:33","date_gmt":"2015-08-12T13:52:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news1613067580\/news-sp-256\/iran-a-world\/18922-unami-welcomes-iraq-pm-proposed-reforms"},"modified":"2023-01-15T10:05:38","modified_gmt":"2023-01-15T09:05:38","slug":"unami-welcomes-iraq-pm-proposed-reforms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-a-world\/unami-welcomes-iraq-pm-proposed-reforms\/","title":{"rendered":"UNAMI welcomes Iraq PM proposed reforms"},"content":{"rendered":"<img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-43705\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/08\/unami-logo-300.jpg\" alt=\" United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq \" title=\"United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI)\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>\n<p>The Acting Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), Gyorgy Busztin welcomed Abadi&#8217;s proposed reforms.<\/p>\n<p>These proposals come at a time when more and more people are demanding reform and efficiency&#8221;, he said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Corruption and inefficiency create widespread and rightful dissatisfaction, which in turn, can be manipulated by terrorist groups for their own ends&#8221;, Busztin added.<\/p>\n<p>The Iraqi parliament has unanimously approved Prime Minister Haidar Al-Abadi&#8217;s proposed reforms aimed at improving the lives of the Iraqi people, rationalizing state institutions and rooting out corruption.<\/p>\n<p>Abadi&#8217;s seven-point plan, which also includes measures to easing sectarian tensions, was passed Tuesday without debate by the Council of Representatives, reports quoting Speaker Salim al-Juburi said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-world\/18915-iraq-eifa-welcomes-abadi-reform-package-but-demands-more\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"alternate noopener noreferrer\">The European Iraqi Freedom Association (EIFA)<\/a>\u00a0also welcomed Prime Minister al-Abadi\u2019s reforms in Iraq and congratulated him on these courageous and long-overdue measures, but emphasizes four additional key actions that must accompany any such reforms:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Prosecution of former Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki for crimes against humanity, torture, murder and corruption.\n<\/li>\n<li>Eviction of Iran from all areas in which it has interfered in Iraq. ISIS cannot be defeated, nor order restored in Iraq until the Iranian \u2018occupation\u2019 is ended.\n<\/li>\n<li>Confronting and neutralizing the brutal, sectarian Iranian-led Shi\u2019ite militias.
