{"id":18961,"date":"2015-08-18T13:19:56","date_gmt":"2015-08-18T12:19:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/statements\/iran-resistance\/18961-iranians-in-australia-denounce-human-rights-abuses-in-iran"},"modified":"2023-01-15T10:29:05","modified_gmt":"2023-01-15T09:29:05","slug":"iranians-in-australia-denounce-human-rights-abuses-in-iran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-resistance\/iranians-in-australia-denounce-human-rights-abuses-in-iran\/","title":{"rendered":"Iranians in Australia denounce human rights abuses in Iran"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/about\/our-resistance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"alternate noopener noreferrer\">NCRI<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; Members of the Iranian-Australian community held a demonstration in Sydney over the weekend to raise awareness about the appalling state of human rights in Iran.<\/p>\n<p>The Iranian demonstrators pointed out that the human rights situation in Iran had dramatically deteriorated in the two years since Hassan Rouhani took office as President.<\/p>\n<p>The rally in central Sydney on Saturday by the supporters of the main Iranian opposition group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/pmoi-mek\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"alternate noopener noreferrer\">People&#8217;s Mojahedin Organization of Iran, PMOI\u00a0(Mujahedin-e Khalq, MEK)<\/a>, also condemned the increasing rate of executions in Iran.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/human-rights\/18883-un-high-commissioner-alarmed-at-execution-sentence-in-iran\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"alternate noopener noreferrer\">A statement<\/a>\u00a0by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra\u2019ad Al Hussein on August 5 said: &#8220;Iran has reportedly executed more than 600 individuals so far this year.
