{"id":18962,"date":"2015-08-18T20:26:54","date_gmt":"2015-08-18T19:26:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news1613067580\/news-sp-256\/terrorism-a-fundamentalism\/18962-velayati-iran-more-powerful-to-back-assad-after-nuclear-deal"},"modified":"2023-01-15T10:31:34","modified_gmt":"2023-01-15T09:31:34","slug":"velayati-iran-more-powerful-to-back-assad-after-nuclear-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/terrorism-a-fundamentalism\/velayati-iran-more-powerful-to-back-assad-after-nuclear-deal\/","title":{"rendered":"Velayati: Iran more powerful to back Assad after nuclear deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"velayati\" class=\" size-full wp-image-42182\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2014\/09\/velayati.jpg\" alt=\"velayati\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/about\/our-resistance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"alternate noopener noreferrer\">NCRI<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; The recent nuclear deal between the regime in Iran and the major world powers gives Tehran more power to support its allies in the region, a senior advisor to the regime&#8217;s supreme leader Ali Khamenei has said.<\/p>\n<p>The regime in Iran will have &#8220;more power to support its friends in the region following the nuclear deal,&#8221; Ali-Akbar Velayati, the Supreme Leader&#8217;s advisor on international affairs, was quoted by state television (IRIB) as saying on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Years ago, the West tried but failed to topple Bashar al-Assad&#8217;s regime in Syria, Velayati claimed, adding that nowadays, attempts to overthrow al-Assad are &#8220;impossible with an even stronger resistance front against Israel.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Three Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) colonels were killed last month in Syria in the ongoing civil war, local reports said. They were there as part of Tehran\u2019s efforts to keep Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad in power.<\/p>\n<p>The Iranian regime&#8217;s President Hassan Rouhani has said Tehran will back al-Assad &#8220;until the end of the road&#8221;. A number of other senior Iranian Revolutionary Guards commanders have been killed in the conflict in recent months.<\/p>\n<p>In June, Iranian state media said that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/terrorism-fundamentalism\/18600-over-400-killed-in-syria-fighting-for-assad-have-been-buried-in-iran\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"alternate noopener noreferrer\">at least 400 men who have died fighting for Assad<\/a>\u00a0have been buried in Iran so far.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related news:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a
