{"id":19173,"date":"2015-09-23T15:41:17","date_gmt":"2015-09-23T14:41:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/issues\/human-rights\/19173-iran-seven-years-on-death-row"},"modified":"2023-01-15T13:49:53","modified_gmt":"2023-01-15T12:49:53","slug":"iran-seven-years-on-death-row","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/human-rights\/iran-seven-years-on-death-row\/","title":{"rendered":"IRAN: Seven years on death row"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>A report on Zaniar and Loqman Moradi<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/about\/our-resistance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"alternate noopener noreferrer\">NCRI<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 Two young Iranian Kurds that have been condemned to death are lingering in prison after seven years.<\/p>\n<p>Zaniar and Loqman Moradi are charged with killing the son of a senior mullah in Kurdistan Province, western Iran, a charge they deny.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"zaniar-loghman-moradi-500\" class=\" size-full wp-image-44146\" style=\"margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/09\/zaniar-loghman-moradi-500.jpg\" alt=\"zaniar-loghman-moradi-500\" width=\"500\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/zaniar-loghman-moradi-500.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/zaniar-loghman-moradi-500-300x180.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>They are spending their seventh year in Gohardasht (Rajai Shahr) Prison in Karaj, north-west of Tehran, and their families say that they are in poor physical condition.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During these seven years, Zaniar has never been able to meet his family and Loqman has just seen his family two or three times from behind a window.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir file has turned complicated by the Ministry of Intelligence. It does not allow criminal courts to try them, nor does it allow clarification of their condition,\u201d says Zaniar\u2019s father who is Loqman\u2019s uncle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cZaniar has undergone surgery five times because of the tortures he has suffered by his interrogators and Ministry of Intelligence agents. He has been operated on the spine, back, testis and knee,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Zaniar\u2019s father said that his family has moved out of Iran and thus Zaniar has not been able to have visits from them, but the regime has also barred any visits by his grandparents. \u201cRecently, when Loqman was sent to court, he refused to put on a prisoner\u2019s outfit.
