{"id":19423,"date":"2015-11-04T21:42:19","date_gmt":"2015-11-04T21:42:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news1613067580\/news-sp-256\/iran-a-world\/19423-us-fines-deutsche-bank-258m-for-working-with-iran-regime"},"modified":"2023-01-15T19:24:02","modified_gmt":"2023-01-15T18:24:02","slug":"us-fines-deutsche-bank-258m-for-working-with-iran-regime","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-a-world\/us-fines-deutsche-bank-258m-for-working-with-iran-regime\/","title":{"rendered":"US fines Deutsche Bank $258m for working with Iran regime"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"deutsche-bank-300\" class=\" size-full wp-image-44681\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2015\/11\/deutsche-bank-300.jpg\" alt=\"deutsche-bank-300\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>German company Deutsche Bank has been fined $285m by US regulators for working with US-sanctioned regimes in Syria and Iran, the BBC reported on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The bank will pay penalties to the New York State Department of Financial Services and the Federal Reserve.<\/p>\n<p>Employees who worked on the illegal transactions must not work with the bank again, the Federal Reserve said.<\/p>\n<p>The bank also violated various New York state laws and is paying the two agencies separately.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The firm did not have sufficient policies and procedures to ensure that activities conducted at its offices outside of the United States complied with US sanctions laws,&#8221; an official from the Federal Reserve said.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Reserve is requiring Deutsche Bank to create an &#8220;enhanced&#8221; program to &#8220;ensure global compliance&#8221; with US sanctions, characterizing its transactions with Syria and Iran&#8217;s regime &#8220;unsafe and unsound&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The bank said in a statement that the conduct had stopped several years ago, adding: &#8220;Since then we have terminated all business with parties from the countries involved.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Two French banks, BNP Paribas and Credit Agricole, received higher fines from the US for working with US-sanctioned countries.<\/p>\n<p>The US fined BNP Paribas $8.9bn and fined Credit Agricole $800m.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>German company Deutsche Bank has been fined $285m by US regulators for working with US-sanctioned regimes in Syria and Iran, the BBC reported on Wednesday.
