Dear Secretary General,
As a group of Camp Liberty residents’ families residing in Europe and the United States, we are gravely concerned about the lives of our children, especially after the rocket attack on October 29 that killed 24 of the residents.<\/p>\n
During 2003-2009, when the US forces held the responsibility of security of Camp Ashraf on the ground, many of us had the opportunity to travel to Ashraf and stay there for an unlimited period of time and see our children. But since the time the US government unlawfully turned the security of our children over to the Pro-Iranian regime government of Maliki, despite our repeated application for entry visa to Iraq through various embassies in countries of our residence, Iraq has refused granting permission to enter that country.<\/p>\n
This is while our children and relatives are recognized as protected persons under the Fourth Geneva Convention and have been interviewed by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and they are recognized as people of concern protected under international law.<\/p>\n
Our loved ones were transferred from Camp Ashraf to Camp Liberty, supposedly a Temporary Transit Location, to be relocated to third countries within few months. Yet, after 3.5 years they are under unbearable pressures in the camp and they have not been resettled. The Iraqi Government has virtually turned the camp into a prison.
In these circumstances, dispatched teams of the mullahs\u2019 Intelligence Ministry to Iraq and to Camp Liberty under the cover of so-called families of the residents have no problem entering Iraq and get through to the Camp.<\/p>\n
The mission of these teams is psychological torture of our children and relatives and been financed entirely by the Iranian regime.<\/p>\n
Based on past experience and notably the attack on October 29, proves that these activities are prelude to yet another bloodbath, this time in Liberty.<\/p>\n
In years 2010 and 2011 the same type of agents under the same cover as “families” camped on the perimeters of Ashraf for 23 continuous months psychologically torturing the residents using 320 loudspeakers, cursing and threatening them to death. These agents threatened loudly through the loudspeakers “We shed your blood on Ashraf soil, we execute you one by one…”<\/p>\n
It is very unfortunate that the very basic rights of our loved ones are being violated at the behest of the mullahs’ regime in Iran which has been going on for more than 6 years. Currently an inhumane medical and food siege is imposed upon them. They are deprived of meeting their lawyers. In 6 deadly attacks 120 had been killed and 27 lost their lives due to medical siege.<\/p>\n
We strongly urge you to call on the Iraqi Government in every way possible to grant entry visa to us to go to Camp Liberty to see our beloved children and relatives after so many years.<\/p>\n
The Government of Iraq, Prime Minister al-Ebadi, the US Government and the United Nations must recognize and safeguard the rights of Camp Liberty residents and maintain their security and prevent the Iranian regime’s agents approach the Camp.<\/p>\n
