\u201cAt the initiative of the Association of Iranian refugees in Belgium, about a hundred people gathered on Monday from 17:30 to 19:00, outside the Brussels justice department,\u201d the Belgian news agency Belga reported.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey were protesting against the visit on Tuesday of Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to discuss with members of the Foreign Affairs Committee, relations with the European Union after the end of international sanctions against Tehran.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe demonstrators waved photographs of a man hanging from a crane in a public square, and the caricature of Atena Farghadani, 29, sentenced to 12 years and nine months in prison in June 2015.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe demonstrators stressed that Iran has reached a world record with over 2,300 executions since Hassan Rouhani came to power in 2013.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThey called on the European Union to make the establishment of economic relations with Iran conditional upon an advance in terms of human rights.\u201d<\/p>\n
“To the Iranian people, the most important issue is the defense of their rights, not the nuclear issue”, Belga quoted an activist of the National Council of Resistance of Iran as saying.<\/p>\n
