{"id":19954,"date":"2016-03-02T12:22:33","date_gmt":"2016-03-02T12:22:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/iran-election\/19954-iran-most-young-people-had-boycotted-the-polls"},"modified":"2023-01-16T02:22:13","modified_gmt":"2023-01-16T01:22:13","slug":"iran-most-young-people-had-boycotted-the-polls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/election-old\/iran-most-young-people-had-boycotted-the-polls\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran- Most Young People Had Boycotted The Polls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"FPM\" class=\" size-full wp-image-45437\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/03\/FPM.jpg\" alt=\"FPM\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHead of the National Council for Resistance of Iran said most young people had boycotted the polls\u201d, writes a news article in the Independents on Sunday 28th, February a day after the elections were held in Iran.<\/p>\n<p>In an article titled \u201cIran elections a &#8216;sham between officials in charge of torture and execution\u201d, Harry Toner from The Independent writes:<\/p>\n<p>The Iranian elections are \u2018a sham\u2019, the exiled leader of the resistance Maryam Rajavi has said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/ncri-statements\/president-elect\/19951-iran-maryam-rajavi-addresses-at-paris-conference-on-the-eve-of-international-women-s-day-2016\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"alternate noopener noreferrer\">Speaking in Paris on Saturday, Mrs Rajavi <\/a>said the majority of young people in Iran had boycotted the elections.<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u201cOn 26 February, the mullahs held a sham election. The so-called election did not mean to elect the people&#8217;s representatives, but it was a competition between the incumbent and former officials in charge of torture and executions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis puts an end to the myth of moderation in this regime. Therefore this sham election was rejected and boycotted by most of the Iranian youth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Independent, referring to the rigged show of election continues: Of the 12,123 candidates who were nominated as potential candidates, almost half were cut by the Guardian Council, with 6,300 of them \u2013 including 586 women \u2013 allowed to stand for election for the Majlis and 166 candidates, all male, put forward for the Assembly of Experts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/ncri-statements\/president-elect\/19952-iranian-regime-s-ludicrous-claim-about-60-percent-turnout-in-sham-elections\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"alternate noopener noreferrer\">In a statement<\/a>, dated February 28th, Maryam Rajavi, leader of the main Iranian democratic opposition analyzed the results of the elections and the change in the ruling theocracy\u2019s balance an \u201cImpact of the retreat in nuclear program.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>Maryam Rajavi emphasized that \u201cThe entire regime was the loser of the elections; as internal crises aggravate and the population\u2019s rage escalates, the mullahs inch closer to their downfall\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.frontpagemag.com\/fpm\/261999\/iranian-elections-reformers-didnt-win-joseph-klein#disqus_thread\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"alternate noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/www.frontpagemag.com\/fpm\/261999\/iranian-elections-reformers-didnt-win-joseph-klein#disqus_thread<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.frontpagemag.com\/fpm\/261999\/iranian-elections-reformers-didnt-win-joseph-klein#disqus_thread\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"alternate noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&ldquo;Head of the National Council for Resistance of Iran said most young people had boycotted the polls&rdquo;, writes a news article in the Independents on Sunday 28th, February a day [&#8230;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":10,"featured_media":45437,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[52],"tags":[175],"class_list":{"0":"post-19954","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-election-old","8":"tag-updated"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
