Iranian regime\u2019s crimes against humanity must be referred to UN Security Council<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n On Wednesday night, March 23, 2016, the United Nations Human Rights Council approved a resolution presented by 39 UN members to extend \u201cthe mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights\u201d in Iran for \u201ca further period of one year.\u201d This approval came despite extensive efforts by the religious fascism ruling Iran and a number of other countries, themselves violators of human rights, to prevent ratification of the resolution.<\/p>\n The resolution \u201cregretting the lack of cooperation\u201d by the Iranian regime \u201cwith the requests of the Human Rights Council and the Assembly\u201d made in those resolutions issued by the UN General Assembly against the severe violation of human rights in Iran, and \u201cexpressing serious concern\u201d regarding the situation of human rights in Iran as noted in Mr. Ahmed Shaheed\u2019s report, as well as \u201cthe lack of access permitted to the Special Rapporteur to travel\u201d to Iran, calls on the Iranian regime \u201cto cooperate fully with the Special Rapporteur and to permit access to visit the country, as well as all information necessary to allow the fulfilment of the mandate\u201d.<\/p>\n In addition to EU members, many other members of the Human Rights Council voted for this resolution, including South Korea, Macedonia, United Arab Emirates, Mexico, Qatar, Panama, Paraguay, Albania, Saudi Arabia, Botswana and El Salvador.<\/p>\n The Iranian Resistance welcomes the renewal of the Special Rapporteur\u2019s mandate and calls on the Human Rights Council and the Special Rapporteur to refer the dossier of the Iranian regime\u2019s crimes to the Security Council and to have those ordering these crimes against humanity and their perpetrators to be brought to justice.
