{"id":20189,"date":"2016-04-16T09:19:19","date_gmt":"2016-04-16T08:19:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/issues\/human-rights\/20189-ncri-foreign-affairs-chief-denounces-mogherini-s-trip-to-iran"},"modified":"2023-01-16T22:49:05","modified_gmt":"2023-01-16T21:49:05","slug":"ncri-foreign-affairs-chief-denounces-mogherini-s-trip-to-iran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/human-rights\/ncri-foreign-affairs-chief-denounces-mogherini-s-trip-to-iran\/","title":{"rendered":"NCRI foreign affairs chief denounces Mogherini\u2019s trip to Iran"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"mohaddessin-400\" class=\" size-full wp-image-45561\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/03\/mohaddessin-400.jpg\" alt=\"mohaddessin-400\" width=\"400\" height=\"250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/mohaddessin-400.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/mohaddessin-400-300x188.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>NCRI &#8211; Mohammad Mohaddessin, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), on Saturday strongly criticized the trip to Tehran by the European Union&#8217;s foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Mogherini, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, arrived in Tehran on Saturday along with seven EU commissioners for discussions with the regime\u2019s officials on trade and other areas of cooperation.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Mohaddessin said:<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;This trip which takes place in the midst of mass executions, brutal human rights violations and the regime&#8217;s unbridled warmongering in the region tramples on the values upon which the EU has been founded and which Ms. Mogherini should be defending and propagating.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThe mullahs&#8217; regime is engulfed in deep social and political crises, and such trips will not save it from its inevitable overthrow. Banking on this crisis-riddled regime would only achieve short-term petty economic interests and would not result in medium or long-term benefit. It would only make 80 million Iranians, who seek regime change, pessimistic towards the EU.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cMs. Mogherini&#8217;s deafening silence on executions, violation of women&#8217;s rights and the rights of minorities, and the regime\u2019s unprecedented military expedition to Syria makes this trip ever more destructive.
