{"id":20469,"date":"2016-06-01T08:41:47","date_gmt":"2016-06-01T07:41:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/statements\/iran-resistance\/20469-pmoi-supporters-in-finland-denounce-presence-of-iran-regime-s-fm"},"modified":"2023-01-16T06:50:51","modified_gmt":"2023-01-16T05:50:51","slug":"pmoi-supporters-in-finland-denounce-presence-of-iran-regime-s-fm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-resistance\/pmoi-supporters-in-finland-denounce-presence-of-iran-regime-s-fm\/","title":{"rendered":"PMOI supporters in Finland denounce presence of Iran regime\u2019s FM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NCRI &#8211; Supporters of the main Iranian opposition group People&#8217;s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/pmoi-mek\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"alternate noopener noreferrer\">PMOI or MEK<\/a>) in Finland rallied in Helsinki on Tuesday to protest the presence of the Iranian regime&#8217;s foreign minister Javad Zarif.<\/p>\n<p>The Iranian protesters urged the Finnish government to focus on human rights in its relationship with Iran.<\/p>\n<p>The PMOI (MEK) supporters reiterated that any improvement in ties between Finland and Iran&#8217;s regime should be based upon an improvement in human rights in Iran and in particular a halt to executions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"pmoi-supporters-finland-denounce-presence-of-iran-regime-s-fm-750\" class=\" size-full wp-image-46023\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/06\/pmoi-supporters-finland-denounce-presence-of-iran-regime-s-fm-750.jpg\" alt=\"pmoi-supporters-finland-denounce-presence-of-iran-regime-s-fm-750\" width=\"750\" height=\"421\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/pmoi-supporters-finland-denounce-presence-of-iran-regime-s-fm-750.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/pmoi-supporters-finland-denounce-presence-of-iran-regime-s-fm-750-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/pmoi-supporters-finland-denounce-presence-of-iran-regime-s-fm-750-696x391.jpg 696w, https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/pmoi-supporters-finland-denounce-presence-of-iran-regime-s-fm-750-748x420.jpg 748w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Some 2,400 executions have been carried out in Iran in the three years that Hassan Rouhani has been in office at the President of the mullahs\u2019 regime.<\/p>\n<p>Victims include political dissidents like Gholamreza Khosravi, a PMOI activist who was hanged solely for providing financial assistance to a satellite television station supporting the opposition.<\/p>\n<p>On April 20, 2014 Rouhani described executions as the enforcement of \u201cGod\u2019s commandments\u201d and \u201claws of the parliament that belongs to the people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On March 10, 2016, Ahmed Shaheed, the UN special rapporteur for human rights in Iran, said in a report to the UN Human Rights Council that executions in Iran surged to nearly 1,000 in 2015, the highest level in more than a quarter-century.
