On Sunday, a number of prison guards tied him up, taped his mouth and tortured him. Mr. Mohammadi had been on hunger strike since a few days earlier. Subsequent to his death, the prison authorities cut the phone lines to prevent the news of his death from spreading.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with the state-run new agency ISNA, the director of the regime&#8217;s prisons in Tehran Province, Sohrab Soleimani, said, &quot;Yesterday, Akbar Mohammadi &#8230; was in perfect condition and upon his request and after the doctor&#8217;s check, he was released from the prison hospital and taken back to his ward.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Killing dissidents and prisoners is common practice by the mullahs&#8217; regime. This is a medieval regime which has executed more than 120,000 political prisoners in its dreadful dungeons and torture chambers.<\/p>\n<p>The Iranian Resistance expresses its condolences to the family of Mr. Mohammadi and other political prisoners and calls on international human rights organizations to form a fact-finding mission to investigate the cause of his death as well as the present status of other political prisoners in Iran. A great number of political prisoners are faced with similar plots and conspiracies against their lives. In February, the mullahs&#8217; inhuman regime executed Mr. Hojjat Zamani, a member of the People&#8217;s Mojahedin Organization of Iran, who spent four years in prison before his execution. <br \/>&nbsp;
