{"id":20782,"date":"2016-07-28T03:30:00","date_gmt":"2016-07-28T02:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/statements\/iran-resistance\/20782-michael-mukasey-if-iranian-regime-falls-there-would-be-virtually-no-problems-in-the-middle-east"},"modified":"2023-01-16T11:28:21","modified_gmt":"2023-01-16T10:28:21","slug":"michael-mukasey-if-iranian-regime-falls-there-would-be-virtually-no-problems-in-the-middle-east","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-resistance\/michael-mukasey-if-iranian-regime-falls-there-would-be-virtually-no-problems-in-the-middle-east\/","title":{"rendered":"Michael Mukasey: If Iranian regime falls, there would be virtually no problems in the Middle East"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NCRI &#8211; A former United States Attorney General has explained why he supports a free and democratic Iran and why he believes that the Middle East crisis can be solved by a change in the Iranian regime.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Mukasey, the former U.S. Attorney General, gave an interview to the \u2018Alliance for Public Awareness &#8211; Iranian Communities in Europe\u2019 at the Free Iran rally in Paris earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=lZjHGxiyIlQ<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In the interview, he said that the U.S.\u2019s policy towards Iran needed a \u201ctop to bottom reassessment\u201d and that appeasing the dictatorship had done no good.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cIran\u2019s role [in the Middle East] is principally destructive.\u201d He asserts that the Iranian regime is trying \u201cto strengthen its own hand\u201d, while it contributes to the genocide of the Syrian people and funds terrorist organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah.<\/p>\n<p>He expressed thanks for the role of the People&#8217;s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI\/MEK) in exposing the Iranian regime\u2019s clandestine nuclear weapons projects and he congratulated the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) for its ten-point plan for a future free and democratic Iran. He criticized the mullahs\u2019 regime for attempting to smear the Iranian Resistance as violent terrorists.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cThe [nuclear] treaty itself was a huge mistake and if its worst effects can be undone, they should be undone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cIf you deal with an absolute tyranny, you strengthen it.
