Asma Jahangir is a human rights defender from Pakistan. She is a leader of \u201cLawyers&#8217; movement\u201d in Pakistan and was jailed in 1983 under General Zia ul-Haq. She was also put under house arrest in 2007.<\/p>\n<p>She has served as the UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief between 2004 and 2010 and has repeatedly protested against violations of Human rights in Iran under the mullahs&#8217; regime.<\/p>\n<p>This replacement will take place at the end of Ahmad Shaheed\u2019s mission.
