{"id":212170,"date":"2020-02-02T22:00:50","date_gmt":"2020-02-02T22:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/?p=212170"},"modified":"2023-04-25T23:23:08","modified_gmt":"2023-04-25T22:23:08","slug":"iran-regime-to-view-borrell-s-trip-as-green-light-to-continue-crimes-against-humanity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/ncri-statements\/terrorism-fundamentalism\/iran-regime-to-view-borrell-s-trip-as-green-light-to-continue-crimes-against-humanity\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran Regime to View Borrell\u2019s Trip as Green Light to Continue Crimes Against Humanity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Josep_Borrell_the_High_Representative_of_the_Union_for_Foreign_Affairs_and_Security_Policy.jpg\" alt=\"Iran Regime to View Borrell\u2019s Trip as Green Light to Continue Crimes Against Humanity\" \/><\/p>\n<p><small><strong>High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell<\/strong><\/small><\/p>\n<p>Written by Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) on\u00a002 February 2020.<\/p>\n<h2><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"NCRI-50\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/NCRI-50.png\" width=\"75\" height=\"69\" \/><\/h2>\n<h2>EU HIGH REPRESENTATIVE<\/h2>\n<h3>SHOULD CONDEMN FOUR DECADES OF CRIMES BY REGIME<\/h3>\n<h3>AND QUESTION ITS NOVEMBER KILLINGS, MASSACRE OF POLITICAL PRISONERS<\/h3>\n<p>Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, will travel to Tehran on Monday, in a trip that will add insult to injury for the Iranian people, particularly after a violent and bloody suppression of the\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/iran-protests-2019\" rel=\"noopener\">nationwide uprising in November<\/a>, and the crackdown on student and popular protests in January.<\/p>\n<p>The Iranian regime will construe Mr. Borrell\u2019s trip as a green light to continue and intensify its crimes against the Iranian people and to engage in wholesale killing of protesters and political prisoners.<\/p>\n<p>The criminal rulers in Iran will also exploit the trip to justify their policy of exporting terrorism and warmongering as well as its criminal regional interventions at a time when many Iraqis are being slaughtered in that country by the Iranian regime\u2019s mercenary forces on a daily basis.<\/p>\n<p>The policies and behavior of belligerent clerical dictatorship blatantly contradict the European Union\u2019s values such as peace and human rights. Shaking hands with the rulers in Tehran, who must face justice for 40 years of crimes against humanity, war crimes, and genocidal killings, is illegitimate and cannot be justified even by economic interests. Investing in a regime, whose overthrow is sought by the overwhelming majority of the Iranian people, is doomed to fail and will only arouse the abhorrence of the people of Iran.<\/p>\n<p>To prevent the Iranian regime\u2019s further abuse of this trip, Mr. Borrell should, in advance of the visit, condemn crimes against humanity in Iran, particularly the<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/iran-protests-2019\/27023-names-of-victims-of-november-2019-protests-crackdown-in-iran\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0killings in November<\/a>, and question the regime\u2019s leaders for their countless , including the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Its murder of 1,500 protesters and detention of 12,000 other innocent and defenseless people in the nationwide November uprising in Iran;<\/li>\n<li>Concealing the number and identities of those killed, wounded, and arrested;<\/li>\n<li>Its cover-up of the\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/1988-massacre-of-political-prisoners-in-iran\" rel=\"noopener\">1988 massacre<\/a>\u00a0of political prisoners and to identify those executed and their graves;<\/li>\n<li>The real reasons behind shooting down the Ukrainian passenger airliner and the regime\u2019s refusal to handover the airplane\u2019s black boxes in a bid to prevent impartial investigations; and<\/li>\n<li>The regime\u2019s terrorism directed against its opponents in recent years, namely in France, Albania, Denmark, and the Netherlands, and to call on it to reveal those commanding and directing the attacks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Secretariat of\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ncr-iran.org\/en\/alternative\" rel=\"noopener\">the National Council of Resistance of Iran<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>February 2, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell Written by Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) on&nbsp;02 February 2020.
