{"id":212230,"date":"2020-01-31T23:00:06","date_gmt":"2020-01-31T23:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/?p=212230"},"modified":"2023-01-21T20:22:01","modified_gmt":"2023-01-21T19:22:01","slug":"iran-more-wounded-protesters-die-as-they-couldnt-get-proper-medical-care","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-protests\/iran-more-wounded-protesters-die-as-they-couldnt-get-proper-medical-care\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran: More Wounded Protesters Die as They Couldn\u2019t Get Proper Medical Care"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Some Wounded Protesters in Iran, Die as They Couldn't Get Proper Medical Care\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Some_Wounded_Protesters_in_Iran_Die_as_They_Couldnt_Get_Proper_Medical_Care.jpg\" alt=\"Iran: More Wounded Protesters Die as They Couldn\u2019t Get Proper Medical Care \" \/><\/p>\n<p><small><strong>Some Wounded Protesters in Iran, Die as They Couldn&#8217;t Get Proper Medical Care<\/strong><\/small><\/p>\n<p>Written by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ncr-iran.org\/en\/component\/contact\/contact\/7?Itemid=490\">Sedighe Shahrokhi<\/a>\u00a0on\u00a031 January 2020.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iran-hrm.com\/index.php\/2020\/01\/29\/young-man-injured-in-iran-protests-dies-of-severe-gunshot-wounds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reports published<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0human\u00a0rights groups such as Iran Human Rights Monitor (Iran HRM), several people who were wounded during the Iran protests in November\u00a0have\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iran-hrm.com\/index.php\/2020\/01\/28\/wounded-protesters-die-due-to-infection-in-the-absence-of-medical-care\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">lost their lives<\/a>\u00a0for not receiving proper medical care.<\/p>\n<p>During the November protests,\u00a0the Iranian regime\u2019s security forces used live\u00a0ammunition\u00a0and shot to kill protesters.\u00a0According to reports published by\u00a0the Iranian main opposition group,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/pmoi-mek\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK)<\/a>,\u00a0over 1500 protesters were killed,\u00a012,000 arrested and 4,000 injured.<\/p>\n<p>In its report, Iran HRM presented three shocking cases of three wounded protesters who eventually lost their lives.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/IranProtests?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#IranProtests<\/a>: Some Injured in November <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Uprising?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Uprising<\/a> Passed Away in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Iran?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Iran<\/a>  <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/lA0magOVFZ\">https:\/\/t.co\/lA0magOVFZ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; NCRI-FAC (@iran_policy) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/iran_policy\/status\/1222865216725307392?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 30, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/iran-hrm.com\/index.php\/2020\/01\/28\/wounded-protesters-die-due-to-infection-in-the-absence-of-medical-care\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Amir\u00a0Ojani<\/a>, the father of four, had been wounded by security forces during Iran protests in November 2019. He lost his life due to infection. He had been shot in the leg in Tehran\u2019s Aryashahr suburb on November 19 but did not refer to a hospital to avoid being arrested. After a few days, as Amir\u2019s condition got dire, his family took him to several hospitals in Tehran, including Firouzgar Hospital. But all hospitals avoided admission because of his gunshot wound. Medical staff told the family that the authorities ordered them not to accept people with gunshot wounds. Eventually, a private hospital admitted Mr. Ojani but his wound got infected, and he finally lost his life on January 10, 2020,\u201d read the report about the first victim.<br \/>\n\u201cIn yet another case, Reza Abbassi who had been shot and wounded two months ago in Isfahan during the November protests lost his life three weeks ago due to infection of his wounds. Mr. Abbassi came from Arab Famour village near Kazerun in the southern Fars Province and was buried there without any ceremonies and in the presence of watchful security agents,\u201d read the report, describing the second case.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">A wounded <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Iranian?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Iranian<\/a> protester, Reza Abbasi, passed away from an infection 3 weeks ago. Reza was shot during <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/IranProtests?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#IranProtests<\/a>  in Isfahan on Nov. 19. Many protesters were arrested in hospitals. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/oTSiZRUtOz\">pic.twitter.com\/oTSiZRUtOz<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; IRAN HRM (@IranHrm) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IranHrm\/status\/1221917535555276802?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 27, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>In another case, Iran HRM described the case of another victim, Mohammad Maleki, 23, who passed away in January due to the severity of his wound.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/iran-hrm.com\/index.php\/2020\/01\/29\/young-man-injured-in-iran-protests-dies-of-severe-gunshot-wounds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mohammad\u00a0Maleki<\/a> was shot and injured on November 16, 2019, by security forces during the nationwide protests in Tehran. He was paralyzed from the bullet&#8217;s damage and was taken to hospital where he was placed in critical condition. Mohammad Maleki was discharged from hospital in early December and passed away on January 6. Mohammad Maleki, a street peddler, had become a father two weeks before his death. He was laid to rest on January 28 in a cemetery in Tehran\u2019s Baharestan district,\u201d read the report.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Mohammad Maleki, 23, a wounded protester passed away on Jan 6 from the severity of his wounds. He was a street peddler and was shot by security forces during the November 2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/IranProtests?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#IranProtests<\/a> in Tehran.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Gc56YSIoDL\">https:\/\/t.co\/Gc56YSIoDL<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/yzBtVrQPG8\">pic.twitter.com\/yzBtVrQPG8<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; IRAN HRM (@IranHrm) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IranHrm\/status\/1222636611239927809?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 29, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>As Mrs.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/maryam-rajavi\/14237-maryam-rajavi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the president-elect of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ncr-iran.org\/en\/alternative\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)<\/a>,\u00a0has\u00a0stated:\u00a0\u201cThe crime against humanity, which began with the massacre of unarmed and defenseless protesters in November, is continuing with mass and arbitrary arrests, torture and disposing of prisoners, harassing thousands of families by keeping them in the dark about the fate of their children, cutting off communication, and blocking information. The regime will construe silence and inaction as a green light to continue and intensify its crimes against humanity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI call on the international community to take urgent action to stop the killings in Iran. The United Nations Security Council must declare this massacre, continuing for 40 days, as a crime against humanity so that those responsible, none other than the regime\u2019s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, its President Hassan Rouhani, and other officials, face justice. I also urge the dispatch of a UN delegation to Iran to investigate this major crime and visit those arrested,\u201d Mrs. Rajavi concluded.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The United Nations must immediately dispatch fact-finding missions to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Iran?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Iran<\/a> to investigate the scale of crimes against humanity and visit those arrested.
