Res. 752 of the U.S. Congress in Support Iran Protests<\/strong><\/small><\/p>\n<p>Written by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ncr-iran.org\/en\/component\/contact\/contact\/8?Itemid=490\">Mohammad Sadat Khansari<\/a>\u00a0on\u00a029 January 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. House of Representatives\u00a0unanimously\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/116th-congress\/house-resolution\/752\/text\">passed House Resolution 752<\/a>\u00a0on Tuesday,\u00a0entitled, \u201cSupporting the rights of the people of Iran to free expression, condemning the Iranian regime for its crackdown on legitimate protests, and for other purposes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This resolution,\u00a0sponsored\u00a0by\u00a0Congressman Ted\u00a0Deutch\u00a0(D- Florida),\u00a0was introduced soon after the nationwide\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ncr-iran.org\/en\/iran-protests-2019\" rel=\"noopener\">Iran protests in November<\/a>\u00a0and enjoyed\u00a0bipartisan support.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">House Passes a Resolution in Support of Iranian People\u2019s Nationwide Uprising for a Free Iran and Condemns the Oppressive, Corrupt Regime; NCRI-US Welcomes the Unanimous Decision <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/FreeIran2020?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#FreeIran2020<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Iranprotests?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Iranprotests<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/rgbCneo0Ve\">https:\/\/t.co\/rgbCneo0Ve<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; EIN Presswire: Press Releases (@EINPresswirePR) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EINPresswirePR\/status\/1222271948358590464?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 28, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The House Resolution highlights that &#8220;Iranian security forces have used lethal force in arresting more than 7,000 people and killed at least 208 in connection with the protests.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Condemning the regime&#8217;s deadly crackdown on protesters, the Resolution also referred to the\u00a0massacre in the southern city\u00a0of\u00a0Mahshahr\u00a0on November 18, 2019, and wrote:\u00a0&#8220;Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps deployed to the city of\u00a0Mahshahr\u00a0and engaged in mass repression, reportedly killing as many as 100 people.&#8221;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Res.752 also condemned the regime\u2019sterrorism abroad including the its thwarted plot\u00a0to\u00a0bomb the annual \u201cFree Iran\u201d gathering in Paris in June 2018\u00a0held by\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ncr-iran.org\/en\/alternative\" rel=\"noopener\">the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)<\/a>\u00a0which led to\u00a0the arrest of the regime\u2019s so-called \u201cdiplomat\u201d\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ncr-iran.org\/en\/ncri-statements\/terrorism-fundamentalism\/25030-khamenei-rouhani-ordered-bomb-attach-against-free-iran-2018-gathering-in-paris\" rel=\"noopener\">Assadolah\u00a0Assadi<\/a>.\u00a0&#8220;The Iranian regime was implicated in a June 2018 terrorist plot against a meeting of Iranian opposition activists in Paris,&#8221; read the resolution.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The bi-partisan House Resolution also condemned the massacre of\u00a0over 30,000 political prisoners in 1988, mostly members and supporters of the\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/pmoi-mek\" rel=\"noopener\">People\u2019s\u00a0Mojahedin\u00a0Organization of Iran (PMOI, Mujahedin-e\u00a0Khalq\u00a0or MEK)<\/a>,\u00a0and wrote:\u00a0&#8220;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/human-rights\/20932-the-1988-massacre-in-iran\" rel=\"noopener\">In 1988<\/a>, the Iranian regime carrying out the barbaric mass executions of thousands of political prisoners by hanging and firing squad for refusing to renounce their political affiliations and in some cases for possessing political reading material, including prisoners of conscience, teenagers, and pregnant women.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In this resolution, the U.S. House of representative\u00a0called for\u00a0a series of\u00a0actions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The House of Representatives stands with the people of Iran that are engaged in legitimate and peaceful\u00a0protests against\u00a0an oppressive, corrupt regime.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>It condemns the Iranian regime\u2019s serious human rights abuses against the Iranian people, significant corruption, and destabilizing activities abroad.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>Urges the Administration to work to convene emergency sessions of the United Nations Security Council and the United Nations Human Rights Council to condemn the ongoing human rights violations perpetrated by the Iranian regime and establish a mechanism by which the Security Council can monitor such violations.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Ms.\u00a0Soona\u00a0Samsami, the U.S. Representative of the National Council of Resistance of Iran\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/99AYp4lzzY?amp=1\" rel=\"noopener\">(NCRI-US)<\/a>, welcomed the unanimous passing of H.Res.752 and said:\u00a0\u201cThis timely bipartisan resolution sends an unequivocal and powerful message to the people of Iran that U.S. Congress fully supports them in their\u00a0nationwide uprising for a free Iran and that it strongly condemns the massacre perpetrated by the Iranian regime in November.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms.\u00a0Samsami\u00a0added: \u201cThe NCRI\u2019s President-elect, Mrs.\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/maryam-rajavi\/14237-maryam-rajavi\" rel=\"noopener\">Maryam\u00a0Rajavi<\/a>, has repeatedly underscored that the slaughter of protesters in November was a manifest case of a crime against humanity and, therefore, the United Nations Security Council must take urgent action to halt the killings and suppression and secure the release of those arrested.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This is an uprising to end 40 years of dictatorship and terrorism in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Iran?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Iran<\/a>.
