{"id":212354,"date":"2020-01-27T23:23:40","date_gmt":"2020-01-27T23:23:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/?p=212354"},"modified":"2023-01-21T21:45:32","modified_gmt":"2023-01-21T20:45:32","slug":"protests-by-different-social-sectors-continue-in-iran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-protests\/protests-by-different-social-sectors-continue-in-iran\/","title":{"rendered":"Protests by Different Social Sectors Continue in Iran"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Protests by different classes of Iranian people across the country\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Protests_by_different_classes_of_Iranian_people_across_the_country.jpg\" alt=\"Protests by Different Social Sectors Continue in Iran \" \/><\/p>\n<p><small><strong>Protests by different classes of Iranian people across the country<\/strong><\/small><\/p>\n<p>Written by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/component\/contact\/contact\/7?Itemid=490\">Sedighe Shahrokhi<\/a>\u00a0on\u00a027 January 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Several\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-protests\/27296-iran-protests-detained-protesters-scalded-with-boiling-hot-water\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">protests<\/a>\u00a0have taken place\u00a0across\u00a0Iran over the past few days\u00a0by different social classes.\u00a0Taxi drivers from\u00a0Pakrou\u00a0Sabz\u00a0Qeshm\u00a0Company\u00a0held a protest outside the company\u2019s offices in Tehran on Sunday, where they chanted anti-regime\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/i\/iran-protests-tehran-marivan-bushehr-20200126\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">slogans<\/a>, like \u201cDeath to corrupt officials\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The agents of the Iranian regime then began to use some of their tried and true methods for intimidating protesters, in order to prevent more people from joining the rallies and prevent more rallies from\u00a0taking place, by filming the protests.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"ca\" dir=\"ltr\">Economic grievances trigger protests in several Iranian cities<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Iran?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Iran<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/IranProtests?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#IranProtests<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/FWY0w4wR2b\">https:\/\/t.co\/FWY0w4wR2b<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; People&#39;s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK) (@Mojahedineng) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Mojahedineng\/status\/1221531304119848961?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 26, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The protesters who were identified through analysis of the video were subjected to harsh penalties by the regime\u2019s agents.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, seasonal workers of\u00a0Shaygan\u00a0Mehr\u00a0Apadana Company in\u00a0Marivan, western Iran, gathered in front of the\u00a0regime\u2019s governorate to protest having not received any wages for nine months. The IRGC is infamous for wasting the country&#8217;s resources on terrorism and developing weapons of mass destruction, which places a huge strain on the economy and the workers.<\/p>\n<p>Pars 2, which is one of the key facilities for Iran\u2019s oil, gas and petrochemical industry,\u00a0is in\u00a0the Pars Special Energy Economic Zone in Bushehr province. The area is divided into three zones; Pars 1 in\u00a0Asaluyeh, Pars 2 in\u00a0Kangan, and Pars 3\u00a0(sometimes called Northern Pars)\u00a0across various cities including\u00a0Tangestan,\u00a0Dashti, and Bushehr.<\/p>\n<p>Unpaid or underpaid wages have been a common reason for protests in Iran over the past few years, with private workers and government employees all across the country coming out to demonstrate against unpaid and months-delayed\u202fsalaries. In most cases, the regime responded by cracking down violently on protesters or complying with barely any demands in order to try and stop the protests.<\/p>\n<p>Other recent protests include the strike by the bus drivers of the Khomeini Harbour on January 25. The drivers went on strike in protest to their low wages and the high price of spare parts for their buses.\u00a0The drivers\u00a0highlighted\u00a0the regime\u2019s empty promises.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Jan 25 Khomeini Port, Khuzestan Province SW <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Iran?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Iran<\/a> <br \/>Drivers who transport employees to Khomeini Port have gone on strike in protest to low pay, high prices, and officials&#39; broken promises.
