{"id":212478,"date":"2020-01-24T21:12:41","date_gmt":"2020-01-24T21:12:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/?p=212478"},"modified":"2023-01-21T23:17:08","modified_gmt":"2023-01-21T22:17:08","slug":"irans-regime-continues-systematic-human-rights-violations-according-to-rights-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/uncategorized\/irans-regime-continues-systematic-human-rights-violations-according-to-rights-group\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran\u2019s Regime Continues Systematic Human Rights Violations According to Rights Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Iran: Violations of basic rights of political prisoners and social activists in regime prisons are reported.\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Violations_of_basic_rights_of_political_prisoners_and_social_activists_in_Iran.jpg\" alt=\"Iran\u2019s Regime Continues Systematic Human Rights Violations According to Rights Group \" \/><\/p>\n<p><small><strong>Iran: Violations of basic rights of political prisoners and social activists in regime prisons are reported.<\/strong><\/small><\/p>\n<p>Written by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/component\/contact\/contact\/8?Itemid=490\">Mohammad Sadat Khansari<\/a>\u00a0on\u00a024 January 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The Iranian regime has\u00a0escalated pressure on political prisoners,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iran-hrm.com\/index.php\/category\/rights-activists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Iran Human Rights Monitor (Iran HRM)<\/a>\u00a0reported.<\/p>\n<p>According to Iran HRM,\u00a0political prisoner\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iran-hrm.com\/index.php\/2020\/01\/22\/political-prisoner-moved-to-notorious-prison-for-refusing-to-make-tv-confessions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Soheil Arabi<\/a>\u00a0has been transferred from\u00a0Evin\u00a0Prison to the\u00a0notorious\u00a0Greater Tehran Penitentiary, 20 miles southeast of Tehran, for not\u00a0accepting\u00a0to give\u00a0a\u00a0forced confession.<\/p>\n<p>Prison authorities told Arabi that he will be transferred from ward 8 to ward 4.\u00a0While preparing to leave, an Intelligence Ministry agent told him:\u00a0\u201cYou have only two options. You can withdraw your previous declarations and express regret on\u00a0TV,\u00a0or you\u2019ll be transferred to a worse prison.\u201d Soheil Arab responded immediately: \u201cI choose a worse prison.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Iran HRM,\u00a0the Intelligence Ministry\u00a0had previously\u00a0asked Soheil Arabi to step back from his stances and dismiss his previous declarations on the downing of the Ukrainian passenger plane and bloody crackdown on November protests in Iran.<\/p>\n<p>Yet Mr. Arabi said: \u201cI told the truth in my statements. You killed people in the streets. People want their rights. They have the right to protest and express their opinion. Why do you kill those who protest? We also have the right to express our views. So, we made statements and protested the repression of the people. It\u2019s not a crime.\u201d<br \/>\n<br \/>https:\/\/twitter.com\/IranHrm\/status\/1219911100147339264<\/p>\n<p>In a similar development, an Iranian\u00a0social media activist, by the name of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iran-hrm.com\/index.php\/2020\/01\/23\/jailed-twitter-activist-mehrdad-mohammadnejad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mehrdad\u00a0<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/iran-hrm.com\/index.php\/2020\/01\/23\/jailed-twitter-activist-mehrdad-mohammadnejad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mohammadnejad<\/a>\u00a0has been transferred to the same notorious prison\u00a0of\u00a0Fashafouye\u00a0as Soheil Arabi.<\/p>\n<p>According to Iran HRM, the\u00a023-year-old economy student has been serving a three-year sentence on the charges of \u201cinsulting officials and agents\u201d and \u201cspreading propaganda against the regime.\u201d He was arrested on October 21, 2018 after agents of the intelligence agency raided his home in Shahriar, western Tehran.<\/p>\n<p>There have been thrilling\u00a0reports from\u00a0Fashafouye\u00a0prison\u00a0and its\u00a0units.\u00a0Reports indicate that\u00a0Fashafuyeh\u00a0Prison, as\u00a0it\u00a0was\u00a0originally designed for drug-addicted prisoners with little mobility, lacks a public restroom. The toilet consists of a hole in the ground in an area of about 60 by 60 cm without a water hose, sink or lights, which is separated from the beds with a curtain in a 3 by the 3-meter room where 26 to 32 prisoners are packed on top of each other. These cells are called \u201cphysics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reports from Iran also indicate that Iranian teachers\u2019 rights activists,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iran-hrm.com\/index.php\/2020\/01\/23\/rights-activist-jafar-ebrahimi-remains-in-limbo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jafar\u00a0Ebrahimi<\/a>,\u00a0one month\u00a0after his\u00a0arrest\u00a0is\u00a0in state of limbo. According to Iran HRM,\u00a0he\u00a0was arrested on December 26 while attending a ceremony for the victims of the November protests.<\/p>\n<p>No information is available on the charges against\u00a0Jafar\u00a0Ebrahimi currently.\u00a0In addition,\u00a0on\u00a0January\u00a05,\u00a0the\u00a0Teachers\u2019 Association of Tehran issued a statement, protesting the arrest of\u00a0Jafar\u00a0Ebrahimi and demanding his release.<\/p>\n<p>In a similar\u00a0issue, there is no information on the whereabouts of<a href=\"https:\/\/iran-hrm.com\/index.php\/2020\/01\/22\/iranian-christians-whereabouts-unknown-mary-mohammadi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0Fatemeh (Mary)\u00a0<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/iran-hrm.com\/index.php\/2020\/01\/22\/iranian-christians-whereabouts-unknown-mary-mohammadi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mohammadi<\/a>, an Iranian Christian who was arrested during the recent protests in Tehran\u00a0against the regime\u2019s downing of a Ukrainian airliner.<\/p>\n<p>Iran HRM reported that Ms.\u00a0Mohammadi\u00a0had\u00a0published a series of tweets on the day she was arrested, saying that the Iranian people faced \u201csoft repression\u201d in Iran as the regime creates \u201cfalse beliefs through selective coverage of the news.\u201d<br \/>\n<br \/>https:\/\/twitter.com\/iran_policy\/status\/1214531589146890242<\/p>\n<p>On January 11, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/iran-protests\/27279-iran-protests-torching-pictures-of-khamenei-soleimani-in-tehran-and-other-iranian-cities\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">second wave of Iran protests<\/a>\u00a0erupted\u00a0after the\u00a0downing of the Ukrainian passenger jet by the regime\u2019s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).\u00a0These protests\u00a0ruined\u00a0the regime\u2019s attempt to portray now-dead commander of IRGC\u2019s Quds Force, Qassem Soleimani,\u00a0as a national hero.\u00a0During the second wave of the nationwide protests Iranian people showed their abhorrence toward this criminal and\u00a0the\u00a0regime\u2019s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, by tearing down their pictures.\u00a0\u00a0A video published online, shows a young man kicking\u00a0Soleimani\u2019s large banner.<\/p>\n<p>Tehran\u2019s Chief of Police,\u00a0Hossein Rahimi,\u00a0announced the arrest of a teenager\u00a0because he \u201cInsulted the image of Qassem Soleimani a few days ago and kicked a poster of Soleimani on the street.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An Iranian regime official recently said that insulting Soleimani is blasphemy and insults\u00a0to\u00a0his personality\u00a0are\u00a0tantamount to the crime of spreading propaganda against the state.<\/p>\n<p>Reports of the regime\u2019s human rights violations once again\u00a0give greater urgency to the\u00a0call made by Mrs.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/maryam-rajavi\/14237-maryam-rajavi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the president-elect of<a href=\"https:\/\/ncr-iran.org\/en\/alternative\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)<\/a>, on the United Nations to dispatch a fact-finding mission to Iran in order to prevent the regime form further human rights violations.<br \/>\n<br \/>https:\/\/twitter.com\/Maryam_Rajavi\/status\/1208746299643891715<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Iran: Violations of basic rights of political prisoners and social activists in regime prisons are reported.
