{"id":212753,"date":"2020-01-16T20:26:21","date_gmt":"2020-01-16T20:26:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/?p=212753"},"modified":"2023-01-22T01:37:30","modified_gmt":"2023-01-22T00:37:30","slug":"floods-ravage-southeast-iran-killing-4-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/uncategorized\/floods-ravage-southeast-iran-killing-4-people\/","title":{"rendered":"Floods Ravage Southeast Iran, Killing 4 People"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Unprecedented floods in Sistan Baluchestan, Hormozgan and Kerman provinces, south and southeast Iran have ravages cities and villages in some of the most impoverished regions of Iran.\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Floods_Ravage_Southeast_Iran_Killing_4_People.jpg\" alt=\"Floods Ravage Southeast Iran, Killing 4 People \" \/><\/p>\n<p><small><strong>Unprecedented floods in Sistan Baluchestan, Hormozgan and Kerman provinces, south and southeast Iran have ravages cities and villages in some of the most impoverished regions of Iran.<\/strong><\/small><\/p>\n<p>Written by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/component\/contact\/contact\/8?Itemid=490\">Mohammad Sadat Khansari<\/a>\u00a0on\u00a016 January 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Unprecedented floods in\u00a0Sistan\u00a0Baluchestan,\u00a0Hormozgan\u00a0and Kerman provinces, south and southeast Iran\u00a0have\u00a0ravages\u00a0cities and villages in some of the most impoverished regions of Iran.\u00a0Reports\u00a0indicate\u00a0at least four people have died in the floods and thousands have been displaced.<\/p>\n<p>The floods have affected 500 villages and 14 towns in the province alone and 20,000 houses have been damaged or destroyed.<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0Nikshahr, 200 villages have lost internet and telephone communications and there\u2019s no news of their conditions. Many villages in\u00a0Sistan-Baluchistan\u00a0province have been completely submerged in water.<\/p>\n<p>The displaced people are in critical condition and are in dire need of help.\u00a0Pictures and videos circulated on social media show villagers climbed up into the trees to escape the rising floodwaters. Many are living on the rooftops of standing buildings.\u00a0Footages also show that\u00a0waterflood has pushed alligators into villages.\u00a0In addition, in Bandar Abbas, floodwater has covered all the streets and many of the homes.\u00a0Five days after the floods, locals continue to suffer in traumatic conditions and are in dire need of help.\u00a0So far, the regime\u2019s authorities\u00a0have taken no action.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the state-run TV, a\u00a0flood victim\u00a0said, \u201cYou come and take your pretty reports but censor what\u2019s really happening\u201d. He says the regime has not provided tangible aid after severe floods ravaged the province.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/news\/maryam-rajavi\/14237-maryam-rajavi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the president-elect of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/our-resistance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Council\u00a0<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncr-iran.org\/en\/our-resistance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">of Resistance\u00a0of Iran (NCRI)\u00a0<\/a>offered her condolences to the flood-stricken people who\u00a0said, \u201cI ask patriotic youth in the south to assist our flood-stricken compatriots in\u00a0Hormuzgan,\u00a0Sistan\u00a0&amp;\u00a0Baluchestan, &amp; Kerman. Tens of thousands are besieged by flood or have lost their homes. Basic equipment to get aid to those areas is lacking\u00a0in\u00a0Iran.\u201d<br \/>\n<br \/>https:\/\/twitter.com\/Maryam_Rajavi\/status\/1216682394943721473<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Iranian regime has plundered the wealth and assets of the people for its repressive, destructive and terrorist projects. Yet the regime\u2019s authorities shamelessly\u00a0are complaining that the\u00a0flood-stricken provinces don\u2019t have front loaders, bulldozers and other equipment to restore the pathways.<\/p>\n<p>Underlining\u00a0the\u00a0regime\u2019s anti-popular policies that have\u00a0devastated Iran,\u00a0Mrs. Rajavi said, \u201cBy destroying the environment, the mullahs have worsened the floods, doing nothing to help the victims.
