Maryam Rajavi: Demonstrations by enraged citizens, students reflect public\u2019s demand for the regime\u2019s overthrow<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

This afternoon, Sunday, January 12,\u00a0demonstrations and protests<\/a>\u00a0by people and students continued for the second day running in several Iranian cities.<\/p>\n

Students of National (so-called Beheshti) University were chanting, \u201cCannons, tanks, and teargas are no longer effective,\u201d \u201cIncompetent IRGC, Source of killing the nation.\u201d In Tehran\u2019s Allameh University, the students were chanting, \u201cWe did not give martyrs to compromise and praise the murderous leader.\u201d Students at Tehran University\u2019s School of Management and Khajeh Nassir University chanted similar slogans during their gatherings.<\/p>\n

Students at Pardis University in Karaj were chanting, \u201cBe afraid, we are all together.\u201d In Damghan, the students were chanting, \u201cCommander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, resign, resign, \u201cShameless Basijis, the source of killing the nation,\u201d and \u201cI will kill whoever killed my brother.\u201d<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s demonstrations come as the clerical regime, fearing the increase of the people\u2019s protests, had stationed herds of Revolutionary Guards, the suppressive State Security Force and anti-riot units around universities and important centers and locations in Tehran and other cities since the early hours of this morning.<\/p>\n

Mrs.\u00a0Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the President-elect of\u00a0the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)<\/a>, hailed the arisen students in Tehran and other cities for taking to the streets for the second day. She said, with their slogans against Khamenei and the Revolutionary Guards, they displayed the demand of the Iranian people for the overthrow of the ruling religious dictatorship and the establishment of democracy and popular sovereignty in Iran. Time has come for the international community to acknowledge the reality that the religious fascism ruling Iran does not represent the Iranian people, and recognize the national call for the overthrow of the mullahs, Mrs. Rajavi said.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chanting, \u201cCommander-in-chief of Armed Forces, resign, resign,\u201d \u201cThe IRGC commits crimes & the leader supports them!\u201d \u201cCollege students are aware, and sick & tired of Seyed Ali (Khamenei),\u201d \u201cBassij responsible for the murder of people,\u201d they say: \u201cWe don\u2019t want the rule of IRGC.\u201d<\/p>\n
