International media outlets cover MEK\u2019s announcements on death toll of Coronavirus outbreak in Iran<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

While the Iranian regime continues to cover-up the extent and actual casualties of the Coronavirus outbreak, international media outlets have published the actual number announced by the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, Muja<\/a><\/span>h<\/span><\/a>edin-e Khalq or MEK)<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

In an article published on Monday, the Washington Times<\/a> referred to the MEK\u2019s announcement of the COVID-19 death tally which exceeds 1000<\/a> people and wrote: \u201cMEK <\/a>said that a citizen sentenced to death for his part in the November street protests has contracted the disease. MEK said there have been 300 deaths in the city of Qom and 209 in Tehran.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Referring to the regime\u2019s inaction and\u00a0<\/span>the call by\u00a0<\/span>Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)<\/a><\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0on Iranian youth to protest<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0regime\u2019s cover-up and inaction<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0the Washington Times wrote: \u201cMaryam Rajavi, who heads the National Council of Resistance of Iran, called on Iranians to stage protests and strikes until the IRGC relinquishes control of hospitals and doctors.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Breitbart<\/a>, while citing the MEK\u2019s earlier announcement of the Coronavirus death toll, as of Sunday, which was over 650<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0wrote<\/span>:<\/span>\u00a0\u201cThe\u202fPeople\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK)<\/a>, which advocates against the Islamic revolutionary regime internationally, announced in a press release Monday that, using its sources within hospitals in the country, it estimated that as many as 650 people had died in Iran since the outbreak there began in February. A little less than half of those deaths, about 300, allegedly occurred in Qom, the city to first confirm a case of novel coronavirus, PMOI\/MEK officials stated.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While referring to the statements published by the NCRI <\/a>and the MEK<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0Breitbart wrote: \u201c\u2018The mullahs\u2019 regime has failed to take any effective preventive measures to deal with the spread of the virus, including the quarantine of cities affected by the virus,\u2019 PMOI\/MEK asserted in its Monday statement. \u2018Preventive medical resources are essentially in the possession of the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and regime officials. Ordinary patients are deprived of many\u00a0<\/span>basic necessities<\/span>.\u2019\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Britain’s\u00a0<\/span>Daily<\/span>\u00a0S<\/span><\/a>tar<\/a> also cited\u00a0<\/span>f<\/span>i<\/span>gures<\/span>\u00a0announced by\u00a0<\/span>the MEK and NCRI<\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/a>on Monday<\/span>, adding<\/span>: \u201cOpposition groups have claimed the amount of people killed by the virus in Iran is being covered up \u201c<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The alarming and rising number of deaths in Iran, once again confirms the huge dimensions of this crisis, which will ultimately lead to more death, due to the regime\u2019s inaction and secrecy.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Therefore, as Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a> said: \u201cThe United Nations, World Health Organization, and other international human rights organizations must compel the religious fascism ruling Iran to make public all the facts and figures regarding COVID-19 and provide them to relevant international organizations in order to save the lives of the people of Iran and other countries in the region.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
