Maryam Rajavi: We declare IWD-2020 the day of Women Martyred in the Iran Uprising in November 2019<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Iranians, supporters of the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran\u00a0<\/a><\/span>(PMOI<\/span><\/a>, Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK)<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)<\/a> in Stockholm, Sweden<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0held a gathering honoring the International Women\u2019s Day<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

The event in Stockholm attended by political figures and women\u2019s rights activists from Sweden and other countries including Ms. Ingrid Betancourt, former Colombian presidential candidate. Mrs. Sarvnaz Chitsaz, chairwoman of the NCRI\u2019s Women\u2019s Committee was also present at this event.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the NCRI\u2019s president-elect<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0sent a video message to this conference,\u00a0<\/span>declaring this year\u2019s Internat<\/span>ional Women\u2019s Day as\u00a0<\/span>\u201cT<\/span>he day of women martyred in the Iran uprising in November 2019<\/span>.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>On behalf of the Iranian people and Resistance, and in the name of my martyred and captive sisters, I declare 2020 International Women\u2019s Day as the Day of Women Martyred in the Iran Uprising in November 2019<\/span>,\u201d said Mrs. Rajavi.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Referring to\u00a0<\/span>women\u2019s role\u00a0<\/span>throughout the\u00a0<\/span>four<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>decades of struggle for freedom in Iran<\/span>, particularly the MEK\u2019s female members<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0Mrs. Rajavi said: \u201c<\/span>Since the 1980s, thousands of pioneering women, a vast majority from the PMOI, have died in the struggle against the clerical regime. Ashraf Rajavi led the way in this struggle. During the difficult times in Ashraf, Iraq, PMOI women such as\u00a0<\/span>Zohreh<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Gha\u2019emi<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>Giti<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Givehchian<\/span>, Saba Haft-<\/span>Baradaran<\/span>, and\u00a0<\/span>Assiyeh<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Rakhshani<\/span>\u00a0offered their lives to keep aloft the flag of Iran\u2019s freedom.\u00a0 And today, in the ranks of Resistance Units and in the frontlines of the uprisings, courageous women of Iran are commanding the struggle to overthrow the mullahs\u2019 misogynous tyranny. Indeed, what better and clearer testament than such profound sense of responsibility and impact is needed to confirm the qualifications and competence of Iranian women.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>The regime\u2019s officials, commanders of Khamenei\u2019s ruthless Revolutionary Guard Corps, and the state media have repeatedly spoken of the leading role of young women in the uprisings. They have acknowledged that these women were leaders of the gatherings and protests in November 2019 and January 2020. Yes, it is true. The more significant truth, however, is that these vanguard women, who are at the forefront of the struggle for regime change, will ultimately bring down the religious fascism. By relying on the selfless endeavors of their pioneers, the Iranian people are pursuing a plan to liberate Iran. This plan can be summarized in four words: Freedom, democracy, equality, and emancipation<\/span>,\u201d Mrs. Rajavi added.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWomen must particularly enjoy the right to equal participation in the country\u2019s political leadership. The unflinching resolve of the Iranian people, Resistance and arisen women will turn these prospects into reality,\u201d Mrs. Rajavi declared.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Referring to the current situation of the Iranian regime<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>its looming and inevitable downfall<\/span>\u00a0and its crises such as\u00a0<\/span>being backlisted\u00a0<\/span>by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF<\/a>)<\/span>, the failure of\u00a0<\/span>its<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>sham\u00a0<\/span>parliament<\/span>ary\u00a0<\/span>ele<\/span>ctions and\u00a0<\/span>ongoing protests in Iran, Iraq<\/span>\u00a0and other countries against the regime<\/span>; and women\u2019s role in this regard<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0Mrs. Rajavi said: \u201c<\/span>The mullahs\u2019 regime is besieged by mounting social protests. The Iranian people rejected Khamenei through their resounding NO to the mullahs\u2019 most scandalous election farce. And the inclusion of the regime in FATF\u2019s blacklist<\/a> has put the mullahs in a financial stranglehold. Iraq, which Khamenei had declared as the regime\u2019s strategic depth has seen the eruption of a major uprising\u00a0<\/span>against its Iranian-proxy rulers. The brave women of Iraq are also playing an important role in those protests.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While referring to the coronavirus outbreak in Iran with over 500\u00a0<\/span>casualties, as reported by the MEK, and the regime\u2019s inaction in handling this crisis, Mrs. Rajavi said:\u00a0<\/span>\u201c<\/span>Under the mullahs\u2019 rule, every natural calamity and every preventable problem from the Coronavirus (COVID-19)<\/a> to floods to earthquakes, turn into a major disaster. The people of Iran and women\u00a0<\/span>in particular are<\/span>\u00a0the first victims of the mullahs\u2019 depravity.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
