\u201cIran\u2019s resurgent re<\/span>s<\/span>istance\u201d<\/span>, a book published earlier this year, By Professor Ivan Sascha Sheehan<\/a><\/span>, University of Baltimore professor and\u00a0<\/span>a leading Iran policy scholar was<\/span>\u00a0introduced<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in publicity<\/span>\u00a0by the Washington Times\u00a0<\/span>in its Thursday\u2019s edition.<\/span><\/p>\n

This book,<\/span>\u00a0which\u00a0<\/span>is about a bipartisan\u00a0<\/span>delegation<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>visit to Ashraf 3, Albania, home to thousands of\u00a0 members of the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK)<\/a><\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0points to the MEK <\/a>and National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)<\/a> as\u00a0<\/span>a force of change inside Iran and a viable democratic alternative to the medieval Iranian regime.<\/span><\/p>\n

This visit was coincident with\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>annual \u201cFree Iran\u201d gathering held by the NCRI <\/a>and MEK at Ashraf 3, which was also attended by the NCRI<\/a>\u2019s president-elect Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

The book by Prof. Sheehan was endorsed by renowned American Politicians such as\u00a0<\/span>Joseph Lieberman, Former U. S. Senator, Governor Tom Ridge, First Secretary of Homeland Security, Louis Freeh, Former Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), General (Ret.) James T. \u201c<\/span>What our delegation witnessed was truly extraordinary and deeply promising: A cohesive political opposition movement, with a long history of struggle against fundamentalism and dictatorship, guided by gifted female leadership, with a well-defined political platform, and an intricate network of passionate supporters inside Iran and across the world, eager to topple the regime in Tehran from within. It was like looking into Iran\u2019s democratic future.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>We had unfettered access to Ashraf 3, including the community\u2019s many facilities and amenities, and unrestricted opportunities to visit with MEK <\/a>residents. We met with real people with compelling histories and admirable aspirations for the future of Iran and the world<\/span>.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>The five-day conference at this epicenter of the Iranian Resistance laid bare the striking capabilities of the opposition: its discipline, structure, and unit cohesion; its ability to build and create a city on arid European soil; an unrelenting<\/span>.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cC<\/span>ommitment to overthrowing the clerical regime, and the opposition\u2019s growing presence inside the country in the form of Resistance Units. U.S.\u00a0<\/span>officials<\/span>\u00a0visiting Ashraf 3 in summer 2019 learned that the MEK <\/a>is highly professional, well\u00a0<\/span>organized<\/span>, dedicated to an unending struggle against the regime, and extremely knowledgeable about Iran\u2019s history and contemporary politics \u2014 including the internal dynamics of the regime itself.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A real, democratic, and viable alternative has emerged to the Iranian regime in the form of the MEK<\/a>. No other organization has the organizational prowess, the leadership, the political platform, the social network, or the capability to stand up to the regime.
