The widespread of coronavirus, as well as earthquakes and floods in various parts of the country, coupled with the inactivity of the Iranian regime, have further exacerbated the disaster<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Iranian people have been grappling with various\u00a0<\/span>natural disasters for the past two weeks. It first started with\u00a0<\/span>the C<\/a><\/span>oronavirus outbreak<\/span><\/a>, which quickly spread due to the regime\u2019s deliberate secrecy; then came the\u00a0<\/span>5.7 magnitude\u00a0<\/span>earthquake\u00a0<\/span>in northwest Iran,\u00a0<\/span>and<\/span>\u00a0floods.\u00a0<\/span>Yet reports\u00a0<\/span>from<\/span>\u00a0Iran indicate the regime has not taken any action.<\/span><\/p>\n

Coronavirus outbreak\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since the coronavirus outbreak in Iran, the regime has been trying to either downplay the crisis or\u00a0<\/span>cover up its dimensions.\u00a0<\/span>On Monday, Ahmad\u00a0<\/span>Amir<\/span>a<\/span>badi<\/span>\u00a0Farahani, member of the regime\u2019s parliament from the city of Qom<\/a>, where coronavirus was first detected, revealed that 50 people in Qom had died within the past two weeks due to the COVID-19<\/span>\u00a0virus<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0Yet, instead of taking necessary actions, on\u00a0<\/span>the same day, Ali\u00a0<\/span>Rabiei<\/span>, spokesperson for the government of Hassan Rouhani, and deputy health minister\u00a0<\/span>Iraj<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Harirchi<\/span>\u00a0held a joint press conference in which they tried to downplay the crisis.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u201cI deny the claim,\u201d\u00a0<\/span>Harirchi<\/span>\u00a0said when questioned about the 50 deaths in Qom. \u201cAccording to the directives of the government and the [Supreme National] Security Council, no one else is qualified to declare news like this. We have the information.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0Reports<\/span>\u00a0from Iran confirms that the regime was aware of the coronavirus\u2019 spread three weeks ago and that the first victim was in the city of Qom.<\/span><\/p>\n

in an interview with the state-run ISNA news agency on February 24, Dr. Mehdi\u00a0<\/span>Shafii<\/span>, Head of Department of Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases of Kerman University of Medical Sciences<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>revealed<\/span>: \u201cFrom February 10,\u00a0<\/span>t<\/span>he government, in a statement to the Ministry of Health, called for all infrastructures in the provinces to be prepared for possible fight against the virus.\u201d He\u00a0<\/span>added:<\/span>\u00a0\u201cNumerous meetings were held with the Kerman governorate and relevant agencies in Kerman province.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The r<\/span>egime\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>approach,\u00a0<\/span>such as<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>disseminat<\/span>ing<\/span>\u00a0false information<\/span>\u00a0and<\/span>\u00a0refus<\/span>ing<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>to\u00a0<\/span>tak<\/span>e<\/span>\u00a0pre-emptive measures and distribut<\/span>e<\/span>\u00a0medical equipment to confront the COVID-19,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>has caused the rapid spread of the virus to different parts of the country, from central and northern Iran to the eastern, western and southern parts of the country.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These\u00a0<\/span>contradiction<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0between officials\u2019 sayings and the facts on the ground confirm\u00a0<\/span>that the extent and the dimension of the coronavirus spread in Iran is much more than what is reflected in\u00a0<\/span>the new<\/span>s<\/span>. Yet, the regime has not taken any practical actions\u00a0<\/span>to resolve this issue.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In this regard, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)<\/a><\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>said: \u201cT<\/span>he regime is repeating the same narrative regarding the Coronavirus as the one concerning the downing of the Ukrainian airliner, albeit on a much larger scale.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Mrs. Rajavi<\/span>\u00a0called on physicians, nurses and hospital staff to publicize their information quickly in order to save the lives of the Iranian people and to thwart the regime\u2019s cover-up and misleading information.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Sunday, February 2<\/span>3, a<\/span>\u00a05.7 magnitude earthquake shook the towns and villages of northwest Iran near the cities of\u00a0<\/span>Khoy<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Salmas<\/span>\u00a0in\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>West Azerbaijan Province. The areas of\u00a0<\/span>Qatour<\/span>\u00a0near the town of\u00a0<\/span>Zarabad<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>experienced the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>gravest<\/span>\u00a0hit\u00a0<\/span>with\u00a0<\/span>dozens of aftershocks through<\/span>out Sunday,\u00a0<\/span>following the initial quake at 9:23 am local time.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The cities of Tabriz,\u00a0<\/span>Osku<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>Sahand<\/span>, Urmia and others across Iran\u2019s East and West Azerbaijan provinces were\u00a0<\/span>also shaken<\/span>\u00a0by\u00a0<\/span>this earthquake<\/span>. More than 3,500 homes in the earthquake<\/span>–<\/span>hit areas have\u00a0<\/span>been<\/span>\u00a0damage<\/span>d<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

While locals near the cities of Khoy & Salmas, along with other areas of northwest Iran, are facing massive destruction following the Feb 23 earthquakes, the city of Kerman in south-central Iran was also shaken by a 4.9-magnitude quake.#Iran<\/a>https:\/\/t.co\/9slNKllEIz<\/a><\/p>\n

The r<\/span>egime\u2019s o<\/span>fficials in West Azerbaijan Province are reporting 43 villages have suffered between 10 to 100 percent damage. The village of\u00a0<\/span>Mohayen<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>near the city of\u00a0<\/span>Khoy<\/span>\u00a0has experienced\u00a0<\/span>immense<\/span>\u00a0damages and locals are in dire need of support.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Reports\u00a0<\/span>from Iran\u00a0<\/span>indicate 104 people being injured as a result of the Sunday earthquakes<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The second earthquake on Sunday<\/span>\u00a0in\u00a0<\/span>Moh<\/span>ayen<\/span>, measuring at 5.9-magnitude, unfortunately, left this village\u00a0<\/span>destroyed<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to this, t<\/span>he city of Kerman in south-central Iran was also\u00a0<\/span>hit<\/span>\u00a0by a 4.9-magnitude earthquake at 4 am Monday, February 25. This quake was recorded at a depth of 10 kilometers and\u00a0<\/span>locals<\/span>\u00a0have been in utter fear and concern.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to a state-run news agency\u00a0<\/span>\u201cLocals of the\u00a0<\/span>Koutan-abad<\/span>\u00a0village have been forgotten and are still waiting for Red Crescent medical teams. More than 80 percent of the homes in this village of 130 families, made of mudbricks and wooden roofs, have been leveled<\/span>.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet, the Iranian regime has not taken any action<\/span>\u00a0and has tried to cover<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>up th<\/span>e extent and dimension of the crisis.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While\u00a0<\/span>pointing to<\/span>\u00a0the regime\u2019s inaction to help the\u00a0<\/span>survivors<\/span>,<\/span> Mrs. Rajavi<\/a><\/span>\u00a0said<\/span>:\u00a0<\/span>\u201c<\/span>Mullahs\u2019 regime is covering up damages in the 5.7-<\/span>R<\/span>ichter earthquake in W<\/span>est<\/span>\u00a0Azerbaijan. Flood<\/span><\/b>s to hit Iranian cities\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Seasonal rains in Lorestan\u00a0<\/span>province in western Iran<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>have caused rising floodwater<\/span>s. This area was ravaged by the flood last year in March.\u00a0<\/span>Reports from Iran, mostly obtained by the people\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran<\/span>\u00a0(PMOI\/MEK)\u00a0<\/span>and also<\/span>\u00a0wired by the state-run news agencies, such as\u00a0<\/span>Tasnm<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>indicate that\u00a0<\/span>at least\u00a0<\/span>thousand homes in the city of\u00a0<\/span>Poledokhtar<\/span>\u00a0have been evacuated in the past few days<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cities throughout Lorestan Province in western #Iran<\/a> are witnessing rising floodwaters following seasonal rains.
Flood warnings have been issued in more than 50 cities ranging in parts of northern, northwest, west, southwest and southern Iran.https:\/\/t.co\/0Kjy2Zdqnu<\/a><\/p>\n

Roads leading to 150 villages around the city of\u00a0<\/span>Aligudarz<\/span>, 70 villages near\u00a0<\/span>Delfan<\/span>, 60 villages near\u00a0<\/span>Kuhdasht<\/span>, 15 villages near\u00a0<\/span>Poledokhtar<\/span>\u00a0and 20 villages near\u00a0<\/span>Chegeni<\/span>\u00a0have been blocked due to the rising floodwaters.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Back in January, unprecedented floods in\u00a0<\/span>Sistan<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Baluchestan<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>Hormozgan<\/span>\u00a0and Kerman provinces caused severe damages to cities and villages in some of the most impoverished regions of Iran. According to reports, at least four people died in the floods and thousands have been displaced.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>I call on all valiant youths of Lorestan,\u00a0<\/span>Ilam<\/span>\u00a0and other western provinces to launch a national solidarity effort to deal with the floods and aid the flood-stricken compatriots. Young people must take the initiative and rush to the aid of our flood-hit compatriots. The facilities usurped by the clerical regime must be placed at the disposal of the public. The ruling mullahs\u2019 criminal cover-up, dissemination of misleading\u00a0<\/span>information and inaction have multiplied the scale of damages and human and material loss<\/span>,\u201d\u00a0<\/span>Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a> said in this regard.<\/span><\/p>\n

T<\/span>he Iranian regime, due to its inhumane and antipatriotic nature and its institutionalized corruption<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0is not willing nor capable of\u00a0<\/span>preventing or controlling natural disasters. Instead of\u00a0<\/span>taking action<\/span>, the regime tries to downplay the situation<\/span>. For the regime, the most important thing is maintaining its rule. Therefore<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0it manip<\/span>ulates or downplays these crises to somehow avoid another<\/span>\u00a0round of Iran protests and sends its military and security forces to the damaged areas\u00a0<\/span>to suppress the possible protests\u00a0<\/span>rather th<\/span>a<\/span>n providing help<\/span>\u00a0to the people<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0<\/span>cause<\/span>\u00a0of\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>devastation of\u00a0<\/span>the natural disasters\u00a0<\/span>in Iran\u00a0<\/span>is\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>regime\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>policies,<\/span>\u00a0such as\u00a0<\/span>destructi<\/span>on of<\/span>\u00a0the environment<\/span>\u00a0or deforestation by\u00a0<\/span>constructing<\/span>\u00a0unnecessary dams\u00a0<\/span>or other projects to plunder the national wealth\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>to continue its warmongering policies<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>As the cases add up<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0people of Iran conclude that the<\/span>\u00a0ultimate solution to this situation is indeed\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>regime\u2019s overthrow.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
