Yesterday, the\u00a0<\/span>s<\/span>tate-run Fars<\/span>\u00a0news agency<\/span>\u00a0reported that more than 280<\/span>,<\/span>000 police\u00a0<\/span>will be<\/span>\u00a0on alert on the election<\/a> day.\u00a0<\/span>Some\u00a0<\/span>\u201c60000 police are on alert particularly for countering any anti-security movement<\/span>,<\/span>\u201d said the Deputy of\u00a0<\/span>Law Enforcement Force of the\u00a0<\/span>Iranian regime.<\/span><\/p>\n

On February 2<\/span>1<\/span>, 2020, the deputy of\u00a0<\/span>Law Enforcement Force in\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>Province of Semnan said that\u00a0<\/span>in other to secure<\/span>\u00a0the election a combination of\u00a0<\/span>Revolutionary Guards (IRGC)<\/span>\u00a0and Basij, a paramilitary organization affiliated to the IRGC,\u00a0<\/span>have<\/span>\u00a0been used.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Local<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0say<\/span>\u00a0that<\/span>\u00a0about 70<\/span>\u00a0anti-tank vehicles and 300 security motorbikes\u00a0<\/span>have\u00a0<\/span>arrived<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in<\/span>\u00a0Lordegan, a\u00a0<\/span>small town<\/span>\u00a0in south-west Iran,<\/span>\u00a0ahead of\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>elections, suggesting state fear of the outcome.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tensions have been simmering\u00a0<\/span>in the<\/span>\u00a0county after regime authorities caused an\u202f<\/span>HIV crisis\u202fin October<\/span><\/a>, inflicting hundreds of residents with the deadly virus.<\/span>\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
