Boycotting Iran’s sham parliamentary elections<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Reports obtained by the network of the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK)<\/a> confirms the Iranian people\u2019s general boycott of the Iranian regime\u2019s parliamentary elections farce.\u00a0<\/span>This is\u00a0<\/span>a positive answer\u00a0<\/span>to the call\u00a0<\/span>made by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the president<\/span>-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)<\/a><\/span>\u00a0to boycott the regime\u2019s sham parliamentary elections<\/a><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reports by the MEK network confirm that until\u00a0<\/span>noon\u00a0<\/span>local time, four hours after the voting started, there were only a few voters at polling stations. In a bid to show large crowds, the regime has been bussing the personnel of the IRGC, Army, and State Security Force to\u00a0<\/span>a number of<\/span>\u00a0polling stations.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Tehran, the capital, at 10:00 am local time, The Shariati high school, which is usually one of the busiest polling stations, was only hosting four voters Another report from the\u00a0<\/span>Mesgar<\/span>\u00a0Abad polling station shows that no one has come to vote yet.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite the mullahs’ claims, Iranians in\u00a0<\/span>Sistan<\/span>\u00a0and Baluchistan Province, are boycotting the regime’s elections farce.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The official ISNA news agency quoted Mahmoud\u00a0<\/span>Vaezi<\/span>, chief of staff to the regime\u2019s President Hassan\u00a0<\/span>Rouhani, saying<\/span>\u00a0that there has been a large voter turnout and the government is monitoring the situation through online portals. \u201cAs the leadership had wished, it seems that the people are coming to the polling stations in large numbers.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One reporter from Mashhad says, \u201cDown with the rule of the mullahs. No to voting in the elections. They have lined up the taxis to force the drivers to vote. These same drivers have been protesting their poor living and work conditions every day.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Yet, the Iranian regime\u2019s leaders and organs from all factions and grouping, terrified of a widespread boycott, have been appealing for people\u2019s participation in the sham election.\u00a0<\/span>Rejecting\u00a0<\/span>Vaezi\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0bogus claims.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, when casting their vote, the regime\u2019s leaders, including supreme leader Ali Khamenei, regime’s president Hassan Rouhani, Interior Minister\u00a0<\/span>Abdolreza<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Rahmani<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Fazli<\/span>, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, and Foreign Minister Mohammad\u00a0Javad\u00a0Zarif, again appealed to the people to vote.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI),<\/a> said: \u201cThese appeals, which reflect the regime\u2019s fear of widespread public boycott, only increase the people\u2019s revulsion toward this illegitimate election and strengthen the public resolve to boycott this farce even more.\u201d \u201cWith their chants of \u2018death to the principle of the\u00a0<\/span>velayat<\/span>-e faqih, and death to Khamenei,\u2019 during the November 2019 and January 2020 uprisings, the Iranian people have voted for the regime\u2019s overthrow and consider the election boycott a patriotic duty and a bond with the galaxy of martyrs,\u201d she added.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The regime\u2019s game of using the so-called \u201cmoderate\u201d faction, which was culprit in all the regime\u2019s crimes<\/span>, to\u00a0<\/span>manipulate people and the international community\u00a0<\/span>of believing there is any connection between\u00a0<\/span>the Iranian regime\u00a0<\/span>and democracy,<\/span>\u00a0was once rejected during the Iran protests when people chanted, \u201c<\/span>reformist, hardliner, the game is over.\u201d Khamenei\u2019s massive purge of the rival faction confirmed this truth once more.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In\u00a0<\/span>Noshahr<\/span>, Mazandaran province, the polls are nearly empty. \u201cThe poll at Amir Kabir high school was nearly empty at 8:45 am. No one had come to vote. But the regime has filled the area with security forces for fear of protests,\u201d one local reported.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One local report from Rasht, from the Shahid Beheshti high school,\u00a0<\/span>Azadegan<\/span>\u00a0Street, says, \u201cThe place is filled with plainclothes agents so that people can\u2019t record videos. What\u2019s remarkable is that there are very few voters compared to the previous elections.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
