Empty voting booths in Iranian cities indicate widespread boycott of Iran sham parliamentary elections<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Iranian people are <\/span>widely boycotting the regime\u2019s Parliamentary elections on Friday<\/span>. <\/span>This LIVE PAGE will be updated<\/span> throughout the day <\/span>with <\/span>reports <\/span>from the ground via activists of the main Iranian opposition group People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, Mujahedin-e-Khalq or MEK).<\/span> Iranian opposition leader<\/span> Mrs. Maryam Rajavi <\/span>had <\/span>called for <\/span>a<\/span> nationwide boycott of the elections<\/span><\/a> and said: \u201c<\/span>Boycotting this sham is a patriotic duty and the Iranian nation\u2019s bond with the martyrs, especially the 1,500 massacred during the November 2019 uprising<\/span>.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The people\u2019s utter hatred once again manifested itself in Friday\u2019s parliamentary elections.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A report from Dalahou, Kermanshah<\/span>, shows\u00a0<\/span>the polls to be empty.\u00a0<\/span>\u201cOnly the officials are present at the door,\u201d says a local, who recorded the video at 9:00 am.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There\u2019s a similar situation\u00a0<\/span>In Na<\/span>ein, Isfahan,\u00a0<\/span>where the\u00a0<\/span>street leading to\u00a0<\/span>the poll is empty.<\/span><\/p>\n

8:15 AM:<\/strong> Isfahan\u2019s Aram school, which has been turned into a voting station, was also empty in the early morning hours. Locals say there\u2019s a heavy security presence.<\/p>\n

One citizen reporter from Mashhad says: \u201cDown with the rule of the mullahs. No to voting in the elections. They have lined up the taxis to force the drivers to vote. These same drivers have been protesting their poor living and work conditions every day.\u201d<\/p>\n

One local from Rasht reporting from the Shahid Beheshti high school, Azadegan Street, says: \u201cThe place is filled with plainclothes agents so that people can\u2019t record videos. What\u2019s remarkable is that there are very few voters compared to the previous elections.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Noshahr, Mazandaran province, the polls are near empty. \u201cThe poll at Amir Kabir high school was nearly empty at 8:45 am (local time). No one had come to vote. But the regime has filled the area with security forces for fear of protests,\u201d one local reported.<\/p>\n

A video obtained from Lordegan, Charmahal and Bakhtiary province, shows a long procession of armored vehicles entering the city in the early hours of the morning. Tensions have been simmering in the county after regime authorities caused an HIV crisis in October<\/a>, inflicting hundreds of residents with the deadly virus.<\/p>\n

9:30 AM CET: <\/strong>As he went to vote, the Iranian regime\u2019s Supreme Leader Ail Khamenei once again pleaded with the people to vote for his representatives. \u201cMy recommendation is that the people vote\u2026 and that they do so as soon as possible. Don\u2019t postpone it until late in the night,\u201d he said, as reported by the state-run Bahar News website.<\/p>\n

In another bid to set the stage for rigging the results of the elections, Jamal Orf, the head of the elections staff, declared: \u201cWith coordination, due to health issues, marking fingerprints is optional.\u201d<\/p>\n

Orf claimed that the decision was made to prevent the spread of dangerous viruses, as reported by the official news agency IRNA. Without fingerprints, the regime will have a free hand to \u201cengineer\u201d the election results as it wills.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, further reports indicate the people continue to boycott the elections and the polling stations. At 10:40 AM (local time), the polling station at Sonqor, Kermanshah province, was empty. No voters had shown up.<\/p>\n

A similar situation was reported from Javanrud, also in Kermanshah, where the people went about their business and ignored the polling stations altogether.<\/p>\n

In Tehran, the capital, voting was very sparse. The Shariati high school, which is usually one of the busiest polling stations, was only hosting four voters at 10:00 am local time, as reported by MEK activists. Another report from the Mesgar Abad polling station shows that no one has come to vote yet.<\/p>\n

A citizen reporter from Banafsheh district, Karaj, reported that at 11:30 am, the queue at the local bakery was longer than the voting queue at the polling station.<\/p>\n

In the Fardis district, Karaj, people refused to go to the polling station. An MEK activist reporting from Karaj reported that the Shahid Ojani school, which has been turned to a polling station for the elections, was empty.<\/p>\n

10:30 AM CET: <\/strong>The official ISNA news agency quoted Mahmoud Vaezi, chief of staff to the regime\u2019s President Hassan Rouhani, as saying that there has been a large voter turnout and the government is monitoring the situation through online portals. \u201cAs the leadership had wished, it seems that the people are coming to the polling stations in large numbers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vaezi also claimed that in some areas, the turnout was even larger than previous elections. But reports obtained by MEK activists and citizen reporters show that past noon, in many areas, the polling stations are still empty but for a few voters.<\/p>\n

A resident from Malayer, Hamedan province, says: \u201cThis is downtown Malayer. No one is here. It\u2019s 10:00 am. The people have gone to different locations to not vote.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Isfahan, at the Ghannadian school located in Zeynabieh street, which is one of the busiest places in the city, only three individuals are in the schoolyard while the polling station is empty. The first martyr of the November Iran protests in Isfahan was killed in front of this school.<\/p>\n

A video from Ardebil shows an empty polling station. \u201c[The regime] is alone,\u201d a local said. \u201cLook at the glorious presence of the people,\u201d he added mockingly while showing the empty streets surrounding the polling stations.<\/p>\n
