Engulfed by domestic and international crises, the Iranian regime needs\u00a0<\/span>a strong turnout<\/span>\u00a0at its sham parliamentary elections <\/a>on February 21, to keep its so-called \u201cdemocratic<\/span>\u201d fa\u00e7ade and legitimize its deadly rule in Iran.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Yet, it fear<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0a\u00a0<\/span>general boycott of its elections farce<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>A state opinion poll published in the regime\u2019s own media acknowledged that 76 percent of Tehran locals have no intention of voting in the regime\u2019s sham election process.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

The Iranian regime supreme\u00a0<\/span>leader Ali Khamenei\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0intends to\u00a0<\/span>have\u00a0<\/span>a\u00a0<\/span>unipolar parliament<\/span>\u00a0and given\u00a0<\/span>the recent domestic and international developments, he is\u00a0<\/span>unable to tolerate\u00a0<\/span>the other faction of the regime, close to the regime\u2019s president Hassan Rouhani<\/span>, that have been culprit in all the regime\u2019s crimes within the past 40 years. Therefore<\/span>, Khamenei used the Guardian Council to\u00a0<\/span>massively purge candidates of Rouhani\u2019s faction.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Khamenei\u2019s act<\/span>\u00a0only intensified the regime\u2019s infighting over more share of power<\/span>. Rouhani\u00a0<\/span>called\u00a0<\/span>these elections<\/span>\u00a0a<\/span>\u00a0\u201cselection,\u201d<\/span>\u00a0and his Minister of Interior,\u00a0<\/span>Abdolreza<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Rahmani<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Fazli<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0acknowledging<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the rigging and engineered nature of the regime\u2019s sham elections.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cExperience shows that most of the violations took place with people using the identification documents of dead people to vote for a second time. There is also the case of fake documents with which people used to vote. We have also seen people using the same ID documents to vote more than two, three or four times. They would go from one voting station to another, making it very difficult for authorities,\u201d he said.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet he didn\u2019t say how officials, including himself, refuse\u00a0<\/span>to\u00a0<\/span>prevent such\u00a0<\/span>voting frauds, that are only meant\u00a0<\/span>to\u00a0<\/span>show a higher voter turn<\/span>out, providing\u00a0<\/span>necessary propaganda material for the state-run media\u00a0<\/span>to\u00a0<\/span>broadcast or publish.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Khamenei knows that intensifying t<\/span>h<\/span>e regime\u2019s infighting might prepare the ground for another series of protests<\/span>, yet\u00a0<\/span>he\u00a0<\/span>has no choice because the recent Iran protests has forced him to do so.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The slogan<\/span>s chanted by<\/span>\u00a0people of \u201creformist, hardliner the game is over\u201d confirmed t<\/span>his truth that\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>regime\u2019s games of reformism\u00a0<\/span>won\u2019t manipulate the Iranian people<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The nationwide Iran protests in November 2019 over the fuel price<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>hike<\/span>\u00a0was met with a deadly crackdown by the Iranian regime\u2019s security forces. According to reports published by the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (<\/a><\/span>PMOI, Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK)<\/span><\/a>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>over 1500 protesters were killed<\/a> by the regime<\/span>\u2019s forces. This number was\u00a0<\/span>later confirmed by\u00a0<\/span>Reuters and the United States officials.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Iran protests w<\/span>ere\u00a0<\/span>a\u00a0<\/span>major turning point regarding the\u00a0<\/span>4-decades<\/span>–<\/span>long conflict between\u00a0<\/span>the Iranian people and the regime<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0This\u00a0<\/span>was later demonstrated during the second wave of protests in Iran,\u00a0<\/span>against\u00a0<\/span>the regime\u2019s downing of a Ukrainian passenger jet<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>three consecutive days of lying about the incident<\/span>, which qu<\/span>ickly turned\u00a0<\/span>political, with people calling for regime change.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The real fear of the regime\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0<\/span>regime\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>utter fear\u00a0<\/span>of\u00a0<\/span>the Iranian people boycotting the sham elections is\u00a0<\/span>that this will pave the way for further protests, particularly the activities by the MEK <\/a>and its \u201cResistance Units\u201d across Iran.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>That\u2019s why despite the massive purge of\u00a0<\/span>his faction\u2019s candidates, Rouhani desperately begged\u00a0<\/span>people to participate in the regime\u2019s elections farce.\u00a0<\/span>\u201cEveryone must participate in the election.\u00a0 No one should say because their friends or fellow party members were disqualified, they will not participate\u2026 If we want to stand up to America, we must vote\u2026 Our presence will disappoint America and our absence will make America happy.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Comments\u00a0<\/span>by\u00a0<\/span>Rouhani\u2019s political advisor\u00a0<\/span>Hesameddin<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Ashena<\/span>\u00a0confirm<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0regime\u2019s fear of its true enemy: the Iranian people and their organized Resistance. He<\/span>\u00a0wrote<\/span>:<\/span>\u00a0\u201cSnubbing the ballot box is not\u00a0<\/span>just tantamount to\u00a0<\/span>snubbing the government or the Guardian Council. It leads to an increase in sanctions, in the probability of a military assault, and in\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>MEK\u2019s sabotage operations.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For this reason, terrified of the outcome,\u00a0<\/span>Khamenei said participation is a religious duty and edict. \u201cElection is a popular jihad; strengthens the country and safeguards the system\u2019s legitimacy. Presence in the election and voting is a religious duty, a religious edict. It is not simply a nationalistic and revolutionary duty\u2026. Whoever likes the system must take part in the election,\u201d he emphasized.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran<\/a><\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0said\u00a0<\/span>in her<\/span>\u00a0remarks at a gathering of members of the MEK\u00a0<\/a><\/span>at Ashraf<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>3 in Albania, marking the anniversary of the 1979 anti-monarchic revolution in Iran<\/span>:<\/span>\u00a0\u201c<\/span>Khamenei is trying to fill the reactionary parliament with absolute loyalists because he sees closing ranks as the only solution to deal with the current crisis.\u00a0<\/span>But,<\/span>\u00a0whether he succeeds or fails in this endeavor, in the end, the clerical regime has no way out and cannot forestall its overthrow.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Mrs. Rajavi\u00a0<\/span>recently\u00a0<\/span>reiterated<\/span>\u00a0that the<\/span>\u00a0Iranian people had cast their real vote in the November 2019 and January 2020 uprisings with chants of \u201cdeath to the principle of the\u00a0<\/span>velayat<\/span>-e faqih, and death to Khamenei.\u201d She added, the pathetic pleas by Rouhani only arouse the Iranian people\u2019s hatred and revulsion toward the ruling mullahs, making Iranians ever more resolute in boycotting this illegitimate election.
