The sham<\/span>\u00a0legislative<\/span><\/a>\u00a0election <\/a>of the clerical regime is set to take place on Friday, February 21, 2020. Ms. Maryam\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Rajavi<\/span><\/a>, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance<\/a><\/span>\u00a0of Iran<\/span><\/a>, called for\u00a0<\/span>a\u00a0<\/span>boycott<\/span>\u00a0of<\/span>\u00a0the elections as a \u201cpatriotic duty<\/span>\u201d and<\/span>\u00a0emphasized that the Iranian people have cast their true vote in the November 2019 and January 2020 uprisings with chants of \u201cDeath to the principle of the\u202f<\/span>velayat<\/span><\/i>-e faqih<\/span><\/i>\u202f- Death to Khamenei.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Following this call,\u00a0<\/span>all across<\/span>\u00a0Iran people have expressed that they will boycott the election<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>A state opinion poll published in the regime\u2019s own media acknowledged that 76 percent of Tehran locals have no intention of voting in the regime\u2019s sham election process.<\/span>\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The gravity of the regime\u2019s fear\u00a0<\/span>from the boycott\u00a0<\/span>was reflected in comments made in Friday prayers by the representatives of regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Khamenei\u2019s representatives, who are terrified of the consequences of a low voter turnout, begged the public to go to the polls.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ahmad\u00a0<\/span>Alamalhoda<\/span>, the Friday prayer<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0leader of Mashhad, said<\/span>:<\/span>\u00a0\u201cWe\u2019ve put behind 10 rounds of parliamentary elections, but none of them were as dangerous as the 11th Majlis (parliament), nor were they as important.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Hojatollah<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Esmaili<\/span>, the Friday prayer<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0leader of\u00a0<\/span>Varamin<\/span>, said<\/span>:<\/span>\u00a0\u201cThe enemy hopes for a low voter turnout and will consider this a win. Voting is the first duty.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A few days earlier, Khamenei acknowledg<\/span>ed<\/span>\u00a0that he lacks public support<\/span>\u00a0and<\/span>\u00a0begged the people to vote<\/span>. He\u00a0<\/span>said<\/span>:<\/span>\u00a0\u201cSome may not like me, but they should vote for the sake of the country\u2019s prestige and security.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Also, on Tuesday Khamenei revealed his fear and announced that participation in the election is \u201ca religious duty\u201d for Iranians.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cElections are a matter of dignity for the establishment. The Americans are seeking a low<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>voter turnout in the elections to separate the people from the state and leave them hopeless about voting,\u201d Khamenei said.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Because of this fear, the regime wants to gather as many people as possible in the polling centers.\u202f\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Reports from various cities suggest that one of the regime’s actions to bring some to the polls is to buy their ballots. Due to the poor economic situation and severe poverty in many cities, poor people have been promised money if they go to the polls. In\u00a0<\/span>Gorgan<\/span>, any person who goes to the polls will be paid 1 to 2 USD. In Ardebil, each person will be paid 5 USD to go to the polls. In Kerman, it has been\u00a0<\/span>announced that anyone\u00a0<\/span>who<\/span>\u00a0shows a picture or film of his<\/span>\u00a0or her<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>presence in the polls will receive money. In Masj<\/span>e<\/span>d\u00a0<\/span>Sol<\/span>ey<\/span>man<\/span>, rice trucks are taken to the villages and anyone who agrees to go to the polls\u00a0<\/span>will be\u00a0<\/span>given a bag of rice. In\u00a0<\/span>Sistan<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Baluchestan<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>P<\/span>rovince, the regime hardly issues birth certificates to the poor people, and many of them do not have birth certificates, but the regime has stated that it will issue birth certificates for those who go to the polls.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
