Fox News\u00a0published\u00a0<\/a><\/span>an interview<\/a>\u00a0with an Iranian prisoner, obtained through the\u00a0National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)<\/a>, about Iranian prison<\/span>er<\/span>s\u2019 situation amid the coronavirus outbreak across Iran.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the reports published by the\u00a0People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK)<\/a>, because of the Iranian regime\u2019s cover-up and inaction, the coronavirus has claimed<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0lives of over 5,950 people as of Tuesday<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0March 1<\/span>7<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Calling the\u00a0<\/span>Iranian prisons\u2019 situation \u201c<\/span>beyond the stuff of nightmares<\/span>,<\/span>\u201d Fox News writes:\u00a0<\/span>\u201c<\/span>One prisoner, a 42-year-old male by the name of\u00a0<\/span>Meqdad<\/span>, who shared only a first name for fear of retaliation, has been held at Tehran\u2019s notorious\u00a0<\/span>Evin<\/span>\u00a0prison for two years. He said in a call over the weekend obtained by Fox News via the\u00a0National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)<\/a>\u00a0that not a single person in the facility appears to be unscathed.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018<\/span>The situation here is that really we\u2019re all ill, we are all having dry cough. We have a fever. There is no test kit for coronavirus or any test kits available. All we can do is try to reach the clinic by pushing and shoving,<\/span>\u2019<\/span>\u00a0he said.\u00a0<\/span>\u2018<\/span>And once there, the guards tell us there is no doctor or that the doctor is not coming, return to your ward or we will use force. If by chance, we happen to find a doctor, all they do is to aim their digital thermometer at us, without even approaching us<\/span>,\u201d the interview added.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>Meqdad<\/span>\u00a0said a number of inmates who contracted coronavirus were transferred to Masih\u00a0<\/span>Daneshvari<\/span>\u00a0Hospital and simply never came back<\/span>,\u201d read the article.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While quoting\u00a0<\/span>the Iranian prisoner,\u00a0<\/span>Meqdad<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0about the deplorable hygienic condition of the Iranian prisons<\/span>, Fox News wrote: \u201c\u2018<\/span>Hygienic conditions here are awful. Prisoners who are imprisoned for embezzlement or financial fraud have money. They can afford to buy disinfectants for themselves from outside the prison, but others and we, without that kind of money, cannot even buy alcohol to clean our hands; we do not have detergents to wash our hands with,<\/span>\u2019<\/span>\u00a0he lamented.\u00a0<\/span>\u2018<\/span>Prisoners are obliged to procure such products from outside the prison at their own expense, so only those who have money can do so. Those with no money simply have no means.<\/span>\u2019\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>Moreover,\u00a0<\/span>Meqdad<\/span>\u00a0\u2013 who decried the absolute lack of medicines and professional help even for those with drastic fevers \u2013 dismissed the official line that thousands of prisoners were being set free as\u00a0<\/span>\u2018<\/span>pure nonsense<\/span>,\u2019<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0the article adds.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018<\/span>Only the prisoners who spy on other prisoners were given a furlough and their number does not exceed 10 people. The rest stay here in prisons on different pretexts,<\/span>\u2019<\/span>\u00a0he continued.\u00a0<\/span>\u2018<\/span>It seems that those whom the regime was unable to kill during November uprisings are being liquidated in the prison by coronavirus. They can eliminate whoever they choose, under the guise that the prisoner has contracted coronavirus, and the prisoner is taken away without anyone knowing about his whereabouts<\/span>,\u2019\u201d Fox News quotes\u00a0<\/span>Meqdad<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>Despite impassioned pleas from the likes of\u00a0<\/span>Meqdad<\/span>\u00a0for outside intervention, on Tuesday Iran International TV reported that the Iranian government this week denied a request from the World Health Organization (WHO) to access\u00a0<\/span>Evin<\/span>\u00a0prison<\/span>,\u201d read the article.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While referring to the NCRI\u2019s reports from\u00a0<\/span>inside the regime\u2019s prison<\/span>s, obtained via the\u00a0MEK\u2019s\u00a0<\/a>network<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0the article reads: \u201c<\/span>Reports from the anti-regime organization the\u00a0NCRI\u00a0<\/a>suggests that the coronavirus death toll in prisons alone has exceeded 1,000, with the next highest number of the lives lost in the holy province of Qom at around 300, followed by Tehran at 209.<\/span>\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since the beginning of the<\/span>\u00a0coronavirus pandemic<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>all the governments,\u00a0<\/span>except for\u00a0<\/span>the Iranian regime, have mobilized all the countr<\/span>ies<\/span>\u2019 resources to help people and control the virus.
