Iran, coronvirus outbreak – a hospital in Tehran<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The coronavirus has turned to a pandemic. Yet, there is clear difference between the\u00a0coronavirus outbreak<\/a>\u00a0in Iran and other countries.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since the start of this\u00a0<\/span>global crisis,\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>government<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0of those countries affected by the<\/span>\u00a0virus\u00a0<\/span>have taken all the necessary measures to control the spread of the deadly COVID-19 and have told the truth about the coronavirus outbreak in their countries\u00a0<\/span>by announcing the real number of those diagnosed with the disease and those who had unfortunately lost their lives<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bu the situation is totally different in Iran under the mullahs\u2019 regime.<\/span>\u00a0Reports published by the\u00a0People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, Mujahedin-e Khalq MEK)<\/a>\u00a0from Iran confirm that as of Monday,\u00a0over 5,500<\/a>\u00a0have lost their lives due to the coronavirus outbreak. This is while the regime ha<\/span>d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>denied the existence of this virus, first detected in the city of Qom<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0for days and avoided quar<\/span>antining the city. The coronavirus outbreak in Iran\u00a0<\/span>coincide<\/span>d<\/span>\u00a0with the regime\u2019s sham parliamentary elections. Fearing a general boycott, which<\/span>\u00a0indeed happened,\u00a0<\/span>and to somehow legitimize its rule particularly after its deadly crackdown o<\/span>n\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0Iran protests by killing over 1500 people<\/a>, the regime\u00a0<\/span>decided to initiate a criminal campaign of cover-up\u00a0<\/span>to somehow achieve its goal of having a larger turnout at its elections.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In a blatant admission two days after the election, the regime’s Interior Minister,\u00a0<\/span>Abdolreza<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Rahmani<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Fazli<\/span>, said: “Some had recommended delaying the elections, and insisted on delaying elections in Qom. But, as the official\u00a0<\/span>in charge of\u00a0<\/span>the elections,\u00a0<\/span>I\u00a0<\/span>refused to approve these recommendations.”\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Satellite images<\/a>\u00a0of mass graveyards in the Iranian city of Qom expose the regime\u2019s criminal cover-up of the coronavirus outbreak in Iran.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Earlier reports and footages by the MEK network from the city of Qom had confirmed the existence of these graveyards, particularly the excavation of a new massive graveyard in Qom\u2019s cemetery, dubbed the \u201cCrisis section.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This criminal cover-up and downplaying\u00a0<\/span>of\u00a0<\/span>the crisis expedited the spread of the virus. While denying the existence of t<\/span>he coronavirus in Qom, the regime sent its<\/span>\u00a0clerics and officials, who were diagnosed with the COVID-19, to other cities in Iran and spread the virus\u00a0<\/span>across Iran<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Along with its criminal campaign of cover-up and minimizing the situation, the regime\u2019s officials, particularly the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), instead of providing people with disinfectants<\/span>, masks and other necessary medications<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>have been hoarding<\/span>\u00a0these necessary supplies and later\u00a0<\/span>selling<\/span>\u00a0them\u00a0<\/span>at the black market<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Horrific videos from Iran,\u00a0<\/span>weeks after\u00a0<\/span>the coronavirus pandemic, show people\u00a0<\/span>falling<\/span>\u00a0on streets, nurses and\u00a0<\/span>physicians one after another burn out<\/span>\u00a0as they\u00a0<\/span>don\u2019t\u00a0<\/span>have\u00a0<\/span>the necessary<\/span>\u00a0equipment yet continue helping victims<\/span>, and in some cases lose their lives.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Iranian regime\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>indifference<\/span>\u00a0to the people\u2019s needs in preventing the spread of the coronavirus and treating patients, especially not fulfilling hygienic needs such as disinfecting gels, gloves, and masks has added to people\u2019s anger.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The regime has recently said it will help people by providing them with\u00a0<\/span>supporting packages.\u00a0<\/span>Mohammad<\/span>\u00a0Bagher\u00a0<\/span>Nobakht<\/span>, head of the regime’s Budget and Planning Authority<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0announced that the government\u00a0<\/span>would donate between 200,000 and 600,000\u00a0<\/span>tomans<\/span>\u00a0($13 to $40) to the citizens with low-income in two phases, which would benefit about\u00a0<\/span>three<\/span>\u00a0million people. Providing a support package to around\u00a0<\/span>three<\/span>\u00a0million<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0while the regime’s president, Hassan Rouhani<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0has\u00a0<\/span>confessed the<\/span>\u00a0number of\u00a0<\/span>people<\/span>\u00a0in need of assistance is around 18 million households or about 60 million, is a bogus gesture.<\/span>\u00a0In other\u00a0<\/span>words<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>these gestures are only to\u00a0<\/span>calm the restive Iranian society<\/span>, because\u00a0<\/span>due to the high inflation rate\u00a0<\/span>having\u00a0<\/span>$13 to $40<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>w<\/span>ould\u00a0<\/span>only<\/span>\u00a0provide an Iranian family with basic food for\u00a0<\/span>a\u00a0<\/span>couple of days.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Other reports confirm that Iran\u2019s prisons and detention centers were\u00a0<\/span>among<\/span>\u00a0the most vulnerable centers hit by<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0coronavirus due to regime\u2019s criminal negligence. According to reports received from prisoners, especially those who are detained for political reasons in\u00a0<\/span>Fashafouyeh<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>Evin<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>Gohardasht<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>Ghezelhesar<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>Urumia<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>Sheyban<\/span>\u00a0Ah<\/span>v<\/span>az and Kashan prison<\/span>, there\u00a0<\/span>are infect<\/span>ions of the<\/span>\u00a0coronavirus<\/span>\u00a0among prisoners<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mrs.\u00a0Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the President-elect of the\u00a0National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)<\/a>, drew attention to the plight of prisoners, particularly political prisoners in view of the coronavirus outbreak in prisons, reiterating that refusing to release the prisoners under the circumstances is a major crime against humanity, for which Khamenei and other regime leaders are directly responsible. She called on the UN Security Council, the Secretary-General, the High Commissioner, the Human Rights Council, and the European Union and its member states to take urgent action to save the lives of<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0prisoners<\/span>\u00a0in Iran<\/span>. G<\/span>lobal intervention is more important than ever to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe, she said.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As the coronavirus claims more lives<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0the regime resorts to more suppressive actions.\u00a0<\/span>Brig. Gen.\u00a0<\/span>Gholamreza<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Jalali<\/span>, head of the regime’s Passive Defense Organization, said on Sunday: “Beyond external threats, domestic threats, such as riots, revolutions, coups, famines, and pandemics can also endanger the security and stability of a state, causing its disintegration.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In a similar development, and to counter growing public outrage over the regime’s criminal cover-up and inaction, the regime\u2019s supreme leader Ali Khamenei assigned Chief of the Staff of the regime\u2019s Armed Forces, Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Bagheri, to form a “health command center” to prevent and treat coronavirus. However, the regime\u2019s real purpose is to prevent popular uprisings and protests.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In this regard Mrs. Maryam Rajavi said: \u201cThese futile efforts will intensify the Iranian people\u2019s anger and hatred over the despicable and oppressive\u00a0<\/span>velayat<\/span>-e faqih system, which has done nothing but committing murder and plundering people\u2019s wealth over the past 40 years. The Iranian people have stated unequivocally \u201cour enemy is here\u201d and \u201cKhamenei and Rouhani are our Coronavirus.\u201d<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The regime\u2019s inaction and\u00a0<\/span>cover-up has not only turned\u00a0<\/span>all of\u00a0<\/span>Iran into a killing zone<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0it has turned this country\u00a0<\/span>in<\/span>to one of the epicenters of this deadly virus.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mrs. Rajavi<\/a>\u00a0emphasized\u00a0<\/span>in this regard,\u00a0<\/span>that the United Nations, World Health Organization, and other international human rights organizations must compel the religious fascism ruling Iran to make public all the facts and figures regarding COVID-19 and provide them to relevant international organizations in order to save the lives of the people of Iran and other countries in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is evident for the Iranian people that this crisis and similar crises will continue for as long as this regime is in power. The solution is regime change, and, for this particular case, is staging protests against the regime and helping the victims.<\/p>\n

For this reason, Mrs. Rajavi had earlier urged Iranians, especially the youth, to stage protests to force the regime to tell the truth and compel it to allocate medical and health care resources and equipment, widely monopolized by the IRGC and security agencies, to the people, hospitals and physicians.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
