Iran coronavirus: Political prisoners on hunger strike in protest to government mismanagement<\/strong><\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

A group of political prisoners in Greater Tehran Prison (Fashafuyeh) have gone on a hunger strike in protests to the government\u2019s intentional refusal to take the necessary measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) among prisoners. The move comes while Iran is grappling with the contagious spread of the virus due to the regime\u2019s secrecy and mismanagement. So far, COVID-19 has claimed more than 5,950 lives across Iran.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are burying us alive,\u201d the prisoners wrote in an open letter in which they declared their hunger strike. \u201cA number of people died in this prison due to coronavirus.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mrs. Rajavi calls on youth, popular councils to support and assist patients,\u00a0<\/strong>urges UN Security Council to intervene urgently to secure the release of prisoners, especially in Fashafouyeh prison.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The\u00a0People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK)<\/a>\u00a0announced this afternoon, Tuesday, March 17, that the Coronavirus death toll has reached\u00a05,950<\/strong>\u00a0in 194 cities in all of Iran\u2019s 31 provinces.<\/p>\n

The number of victims in Isfahan, Gilan, Khorasan Razavi, and Fars provinces respectively is 600, 733, 501, and 152. The situation in Hamadan, Markazi and Yazd provinces is getting worse with 129, 115, and 120 losing their lives respectively. The names of 100 victims in Aran and Bidgol in Isfahan province have been obtained by Resistance Units.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re burying many coronavirus victims in the city\u2019s Behesht-e Masoumeh cemetery\u2026 All the COVID-19 deaths are buried in this cemetery\u2026 The first 70 coronavirus victims were buried here and there when authorities didn\u2019t know what to do. There is a cemetery near the Central Prison where several inmates who died of COVID-19 have been buried in a mass grave. Most of them were political prisoners. Authorities now have found a method to eliminate these prisoners and the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) is behind these measures\u2026 The situation in Qom is quite devastating. I know many friends who are very concerned about their phones being under surveillance\u2026 At least 2,500 people have died to this day. From 2,200 to 2,300 are buried in the coronavirus section of Behesht-e Masoumeh cemetery\u2026 There are five families in grief in the neighborhood that I\u2019m living in.
