Iran: COVID-19 outbreak across the country<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

According to the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK<\/a><\/span>)<\/span>, the coronavirus<\/span>\u00a0has so far claimed<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0lives of over 13<\/a><\/span>,6<\/span>00\u00a0<\/span>people across Ira<\/span>n. The reason for\u00a0<\/span>this increasing death toll in Iran is not just the virus<\/span>, it is the regime\u2019s inaction, cover-up and\u00a0<\/span>mis<\/span>management.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet<\/span>, since this outbreak,\u00a0<\/span>instead of taking action<\/span>\u00a0or telling the truth about the dimensions of this crisis to the Iranian people, the regime has either b<\/span>lamed the United States<\/span>\u00a0sanctions, or foolishly\u00a0<\/span>sp<\/span>oken\u00a0<\/span>of\u00a0<\/span>\u201cbioterrorism,\u201d\u00a0<\/span>and has also increased\u00a0<\/span>oppression and arrests\u00a0<\/span>of\u00a0<\/span>those who tell the truth<\/span>\u00a0about this the deadly virus.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The contradiction in the officials<\/span>\u2019 remarks and\u00a0<\/span>the regime\u2019s hypocritic<\/span>al<\/span>\u00a0action in rejecting the<\/span>\u00a0offers of help by the\u00a0<\/span>i<\/span>nternational community, especially the U.S., yet whining about the sanctions\u00a0<\/span>confirms\u00a0<\/span>a\u00a0<\/span>painful truth: The regime has taken the Iranian people hostage and\u00a0<\/span>it\u00a0<\/span>bargains o<\/span>ver<\/span>\u00a0their lives to\u00a0<\/span>achieve its goals. The<\/span>\u00a0U.S. sanctions ha<\/span>ve<\/span>\u00a0paralyzed the regime\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0funding of terrorism<\/span>, the growing\u00a0<\/span>public abhorrence and clear<\/span>\u00a0demand<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0of the people\u00a0<\/span>from the\u00a0<\/span>regime during the Iran protests in\u00a0<\/span>November and January ha<\/span>ve made the regime weaker than ever.<\/span>\u00a0In order to prolong its life, the regime\u00a0<\/span>must<\/span>\u00a0increase<\/span>\u00a0domestic oppression and\u00a0<\/span>manipulate the international community to lift sanction<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0so the regime could\u00a0<\/span>pursue its warmongering policies<\/span>\u00a0and fund its<\/span>\u00a0machine of terrorism, particularly since the elimination of the Revolutionary Guards Qud<\/a><\/span>s<\/span> Force (IRGC \u2013 QF) <\/span><\/a>commander\u00a0<\/span>Qassem<\/span><\/a>\u00a0Soleimani<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>Yet the regime<\/span>\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0fear of another\u00a0<\/span>public uprising<\/span>\u00a0has\u00a0<\/span>put the regime in another deadlock<\/span>. I<\/span>t<\/span> is unable to help the people due to its institutionalized corruption and anti patriotic<\/span>\u00a0nature<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>which has resulted in an increasing<\/span>\u00a0public anger<\/span>. So, to avoid another uprising the regime\u2019s officials have either been\u00a0<\/span>spreading rumors of<\/span>\u00a0U.S. bioterrorism or\u00a0<\/span>tr<\/span>y\u00a0<\/span>to downplay the dimensions of the crisis.\u00a0<\/span>In a nutshell, the chain of events\u00a0<\/span>confirm that<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0regime is neither willing nor capable\u00a0<\/span>of<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>taking\u00a0<\/span>control\u00a0<\/span>of\u00a0<\/span>the coronavirus outbreak, which has turned Iran\u00a0<\/span>in<\/span>to COVID-19\u2019s killing zone for the Iranian people and an epicenter of this deadly virus.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For weeks the regime denied the existence of this virus in Iran,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>then has<\/span>\u00a0been trying to downplay its dimensions<\/span>\u00a0and ha<\/span>s until now, refused to quarantine cities<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The regime\u2019s pres<\/span>ident, Hassan Rouhani, blatantly said on\u00a0<\/span>March<\/span>\u00a019\u00a0<\/span>that:<\/span>\u00a0\u201c<\/span>We learned on February 19 that the corona had come; meaning that tests in Qom were also tested in Tehran and the result showed that they were positive. This was Tuesday night, February 18 and on Wednesday morning, February 19, we told the government and the public; we did not delay even one day. Although elections were scheduled for February 21, we could have waited and announced on February 22. But we did not do that and spoke honestly with the people<\/span>.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
