Escape from Iran’s regime prisons due the coronavirus outbreak<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Iranian regime\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>oppressive forces at\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Sepidar<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Shaiban<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>prisons<\/span>\u00a0in southwest Iran have shot and killed at least seven prisoners who were protesting the regime\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0inaction<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>an<\/span>d<\/span>\u00a0leaving the prisoners vulnerable to the deadly coronavirus.\u00a0<\/span>T<\/span>his happen<\/span>ed<\/span>\u00a0while the\u00a0<\/span>coronavirus death toll continues to rise.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There have numerous protests at different prisons across Iran against the regime\u2019s cover-up and inaction and keeping the prisoners\u00a0<\/span>in\u00a0<\/span>highly populated prisons<\/span>\u00a0amid the coronavirus outbreak in Iran that has so far claimed lives of over 16,<\/span>1<\/span>00 people<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0according to the Peopl<\/span>e\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran<\/span>\u00a0(PMOI\/MEK)<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the reports published by the MEK<\/span>, there have<\/span>\u00a0been at least 1<\/span>4\u00a0<\/span>riots in 1<\/span>2<\/span>\u00a0days\u00a0<\/span>in\u00a0<\/span>Iranian prisons.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These reports confirm for instance\u00a0<\/span>that\u202finmates of\u202f<\/span>Sheyban<\/span>\u202fPrison in the city of Ahvaz, located in Khuzestan Province,\u202fsouthwest Iran, launched a riot on Tuesday, March 31.\u202fSimilarly, inmates of wards 12 and 15 in Tabriz Central Prison, located in northwest Iran, launched a protest rally on Monday night local time, March 30. In addition, prisoners in Adel Abad Prison of Shiraz, in south-central Iran, launched a riot on Sunday night local time, March 29.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Saturday night, March 28, prisoners in the Mahabad Central Prison rebelled and fled in protest to the regime\u2019s mismanagement and incapability to control the coronavirus. On the same day, inmates at the Alvand Prison rebelled, and some managed to escape. Simultaneously, On Saturday, prisoners of Alvand Prison in Hamedan protested the regime\u2019s refusal to release them in the wake of the spread of the Coronavirus, and some managed to escape. Earlier on Friday, March 27, prisoners in the Saqqez Prison in Kurdistan province rebelled in protest to the mullahs\u2019 refusal to release them amid the Coronavirus outbreak. The regime\u2019s suppressive forces in all prisons, particularly the Revolutionary Guards forces, opened fire on prisoners killing and wounding dozens of them.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, again on Saturday, March 28, 2020, prisoners of Alvand Prison in Hamedan\u00a0<\/span>protested against<\/span>\u00a0the regime\u2019s refusal to release them in the wake of the spread of the Coronavirus, and some managed to escape.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In this regard, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI<\/a><\/span>), has<\/span>\u00a0repeatedly warned of a major catastrophe and a crime against humanity in Iranian prisons. To prevent the collective loss of lives, she called for urgent action by the United Nations Secretary-General, the Security Council, the Human Rights Council, the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the European Union to undertake an effort to secure the release of all prisoners, especially political prisoners.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I urge the UN High Commissioner for #HumanRights<\/a> and the UN Special Rapporteur for the human rights situation in #Iran<\/a> to compel the regime to announce the whereabouts and conditions of the detainees and wounded prisoners who have disappeared #COVID19<\/a><\/p>\n
