News from Iran indicates that the regime\u2019s officials have prosecuted another physician who warned people about the spread of the coronavirus<\/a>. Dr. Rahim\u00a0<\/span>Yousefpour<\/span>\u00a0from the city of\u00a0<\/span>Saqqez<\/span>\u00a0in Kurdistan Province was summoned by the regime\u2019s judicial authorities. He had to report in on Sunday, April 5, 2020.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI warned about Covid-19 a month ago. For this reason, the authorities summone<\/span>d me eight times. I\u00a0<\/span>have to<\/span>\u00a0appear in court for telling the truth\u2026 If you don\u2019t see me again, it\u2019s not because of being infected with coronavirus or a road accident,\u201d he said in a video published online.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since the coronavirus outbreak, the regime\u2019s officials, while trying to cover<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>up and downplay the extent of this crisis, have been arresting those citizens and medical staff who warn or speak the truth about this deadly virus. The regime\u2019s inaction and criminal cover-up has resulted in a rapid spread of the virus across Iran, with nearly 19,000 victims<\/a>. The People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK)<\/a> announced on Sunday that the virus has spread to at least\u00a0<\/span>242 cities across Iran with 18,600 fatalities.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Iranian nurses and physicians have been tirelessly helping those diagnosed with the coronavirus<\/span>, despite a\u00a0<\/span>lack of\u00a0<\/span>medical and pre<\/span>ventative\u00a0<\/span>equipment. They have not\u00a0<\/span>hesitated<\/span>\u00a0in helping the victims, even at the cost of their own lives.\u00a0<\/span>According to the state-run\u00a0<\/span>Hamshahri<\/span>\u00a0daily, quoting<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0regime\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>head of the Medical Council Mohammadreza\u00a0<\/span>Zafarghandi<\/span>:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u201cSo far, about 170 doctors and nurses in Qom have been infected with COVID19, and 37 doctors and nurses have died.” Yet independent sources of the Iranian\u00a0<\/span>R<\/span>esistance and\u00a0<\/span>r<\/span>ights groups such as the Iran Human Rights Monitor<\/span>\u00a0report that<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>at least 78 healthcare workers were confirmed to have died in Iran\u2019s coronavirus crisis.<\/span>\u00a0Iranian\u00a0<\/span>people<\/span>\u00a0have been praising the medical staff<\/span>\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0selfless efforts by calling them\u00a0<\/span>angels and<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>thanking them on social media\u00a0<\/span>by using<\/span>\u00a0the #<\/span>Iranangels<\/span>\u00a0hashtag<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Th<\/span>e increasing death of the\u00a0<\/span>medical staff in Iran elucidates the shortage of medication in Iran. In other words,\u00a0<\/span>t<\/span>he<\/span>\u00a0coronavirus crisis has highlighted the preexisting shortage of medical facilities, equipment, and medicine in Iran.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In an exclusive report<\/a>, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI<\/a>) said: \u201cThe Iranian regime has resorted to a systematic campaign to depict US sanctions as the leading cause of those shortages and thus of Iran\u2019s national calamity. Tehran\u2019s lobbies and apologists have echoed this notion.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
