The People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK)<\/a> announced on\u00a0<\/span>Monday that the coronavirus fatalities\u00a0<\/span>in Iran\u00a0<\/span>have surpassed 27,000<\/strong><\/a>. The number of casualties has been increasing, but\u00a0<\/span>the regime\u2019s supreme leader in his remarks on April 9 called\u00a0<\/span>it\u00a0<\/span>a blessing.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The remarks made by the regime\u2019s supreme leader Ali Khamenei in this regard make it clear that the regime is not only willing to help the Iranian people, in fact it wants to use the coronavirus outbreak as an opportunity to oppress Iranian people and\u00a0<\/span>prolong its life.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Khamenei said: \u201c<\/span>As for the current issue of the country \u2013 the coronavirus outbreak \u2013 well, this is an epidemic and a test.\u00a0<\/span>There have been greater tests,d<\/span>\u00a0we have witnessed some in our country. This is not something extraordinary. These incidents happen in countries<\/span>, although I\u2019m not trying to undermine this\u00a0<\/span>issue<\/span>, but we shouldn\u2019t enlarge it. This is something that has happened and will be gone<\/span>. Yet the experiences we<\/span>\u00a0will gain from this test, people and organizations\u2019 activities<\/span>\u00a0could turn into an opportunity. If we keep these opportunities\u00a0<\/span>this test will turn to blessing and\u00a0<\/span>this\u00a0<\/span>threat\u00a0<\/span>will turn into an<\/span>\u00a0opportunity<\/span>.<\/span>\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The regime\u2019s policy since the very first day that the COVID-19<\/a> entered Iran was\u00a0<\/span>cover<\/span>ing it\u00a0<\/span>up and then downplaying the situation.\u00a0<\/span>The documents obtained by the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization<\/a> from the National Emergency Organization makes it clear that Coronavirus was directly transmitted from China to Qom and Tehran. By late January, several infected individuals were identified in Tehran and the regime had allocated certain hospitals such as\u00a0<\/span>Massih<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Daneshvar<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>Yaftabad<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and Khomeini to deal with these patients. The authorities tried their utmost to prevent any information about these cases from leaking<\/span>\u00a0out<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore, while governments around the world extend the quarantin<\/span>e period along with providing financial aid to their people,\u00a0<\/span>the regime\u2019s president, Hassan Rouhani<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0ordered business activities to be resumed starting Saturday. In this regard,\u00a0<\/span>in his remarks on April 9, regarding Rouhani<\/span>\u2019s decision<\/span>\u00a0to resume business activities,\u00a0<\/span>Khamenei\u00a0<\/span>said: \u201cThe Coronavirus is a minor issue compared to many other problems. Therefore, it shouldn\u2019t divert our attention from the conspiracies of our enemies. The arrogant states\u2019 problem is with the Islamic Republic in its entirety.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Khamenei\u2019s remarks, the criminal decision to send people back to work amid the coronavirus, and the regime\u2019s cover-up and inaction<\/span>, show that the regime tries to use the coronavirus outbreak to prolong its life.\u00a0<\/span>In other words, as Khamenei said, each death\u00a0<\/span>is \u201can opportunity and blessing\u201d for the mullahs\u2019 regime to continue its life.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The regime\u2019s founder, Ruhollah Khomeini, also considered the antipatriotic war with Iraq as\u00a0<\/span>a<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>blessing. Therefore, it continue<\/span>d<\/span>\u00a0this war for\u00a0<\/span>eight<\/span>\u00a0years, killing one million Iranian citizens<\/span>, paralyzing\u00a0<\/span>two<\/span>\u00a0million and\u00a0<\/span>displaced\u00a0<\/span>two<\/span>\u00a0million Iranians.\u00a0<\/span>The regime\u2019s Ministry of Education announced on\u00a0<\/span>January 5, 1989,<\/span>\u00a0that during<\/span>\u00a0the war, it ha<\/span>d<\/span>\u00a0sent 440,000 students to the front lines on minefields. Until recently, on October 30, the regime held a memorial service for 36,000 students who were killed by being sent to the fronts, under the pretext of “<\/span>Memorial Day<\/span>\u00a0of\u00a0<\/span>Basiji<\/span>\u00a0Students<\/span>.<\/span>“<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The state-run\u00a0<\/span>Sharq<\/span>\u00a0daily wrote on April 8: \u201cThe relationship between the people and government has reached a crucial point. The events of November 2019 and January 2020 (Iran Protests) and the kind of slogans used at the time and the rate of participation in the March elections, along with the international attitude of the U.S. government and targeting the Islamic system\u2019s existence have created a situation that leaving it requires tough decisions.\u201d\u00a0 The reference to the uprisings in November and January and \u201cdeath to Khamenei and Rouhani\u201d means the people rejecting the regime in its entirety. This is the common theme in various state-run media.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The regime has indeed taken the tough decision<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The hardship and consequences of this decision will affect not the regime,\u202fbut\u202fthe\u202fpeople. The regime\u2019s officials have all the facilities, so they won\u2019t pay the price of this tough decision;\u202fit\u2019s the impoverished section of society that\u202fwould have to\u202fgrapple with the coronavirus to avoid starving.\u202f\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The state-run\u00a0<\/span>Setarey<\/span>-e\u202f<\/span>Sobh<\/span>\u202fin an article on April 8 wrote that such a decision will result in 70<\/span>\u00a0percent<\/span>\u00a0of the population being infected by the coronavirus.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As Mrs. Maryam\u00a0Rajavi<\/a>, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran<\/a><\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0said: \u201c<\/span>For Khamenei and Rouhani, the lives and well-being of the people are worthless. They only want to protect their regime from the threat of uprising. The criminal decision to send people to work is a crime against humanity and will cause countless number of victims<\/span>.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
