The regime’s leaders admit they were aware of virus arrival since January<\/strong><\/p>\n

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI \/ MEK)<\/a> announced on Friday, April 17, 2020, that the Coronavirus death toll has risen to 30,700 in 294 cities across Iran. The number of victims in Khorasan Razavi is 2470, Gilan 2460, Khuzestan 1260, Alborz 1195, East Azerbaijan 1070, Hamedan 825, West Azerbaijan 800, Yazd 485, and Sistan and Baluchestan 355.<\/p>\n

After three months of denial and cover-up, now regime officials are admitting that they have been aware of the arrival of the Coronavirus to Iran since January 2020. Yesterday, Health Minister Saeed Namaki told Donya-e Eqtesad state-run daily, “When (the Coronavirus outbreak) was announced in China in late January, in an emergency meeting with the First Vice President, I suggested \u00a0to cut off direct flights to and from China, and immediately after recognizing the first cases of infection in the country, I proposed tightening restrictions, including the closure of universities, schools, gatherings, Friday prayers, weddings, funerals, shrines, cinemas, and stadiums, etc.”<\/p>\n

Today, the Chairman of the Joint Chief of the regime’s conventional Armed Forces, Habibollah Sayyari, told Aftab state-run website, “In the army, we predicted the outbreak of the disease on January 19, 2020. Monitoring the World Health Organization’s outlets, we recognized the outbreak of the disease in China, and we alerted our forces to be prepared.”<\/p>\n

In another development, today, the IRGC’s news agency, Fars, quoted the spokesman for Gilan University of Medical Sciences, as a warning of a new wave of Coronavirus outbreak. “We are still in the epidemic phase of the COVID-19, and the reopening of some of the businesses should not give people a wrong impression because there is still a long way to go to contain the virus,” he said,<\/p>\n
