The\u00a0People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI)<\/a>\u00a0announced this afternoon, April 18, 2020, that Coronavirus has taken the lives of more than\u00a03<\/strong>1<\/strong>,<\/strong>5<\/strong>00<\/strong>\u00a0in 294 cities across Iran.<\/p>\n

The death toll in various provinces includes: 5190 in Tehran, 2,520 in Razavi Khorasan, 1,330 in Khuzestan, 1,120 in Eastern Azerbaijan, 2040 in Mazandaran, 2210 in Isfahan, 1070 in Golestan, 875 in Kermanshah, 840 in Western Azerbaijan, 705 in Lorestan, 510 in Semnan and 410 in Gazvin. Human rights sources have identified more prisoners killed by security forces in Ahvaz prison riots over fears of contracting the coronavirus.
\nThe state security forces responded to the\u00a0coronavirus-related rioting\u00a0late March by firing live ammunition and tear gas.
\nAccording to prisoners\u2019 relatives, dozens of prisoners were suffocated with teargas, burned to death during a prison riot over conditions, amid an outbreak of Covid-19.
\nThe authorities have tried to cover up the real number of those killed. They have not yet provided accurate numbers of those killed.<\/p>\n
