Sending Iran\u2019s People to Work Amid Coronavirus Outbreak for Regime\u2019s Survival<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Saturday, April 18, was the official end of the incomplete\u00a0<\/span>Coronavirus\u00a0<\/span><\/a>quarantine and the beginning of the reopening of offices and businesses and the implementation of a project called Smart\u00a0<\/span>Social\u00a0<\/span>Distanc<\/span>ing\u00a0<\/span>in Tehra<\/span>n, Iran<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Simultaneous with the official launch of the project in Tehran, the regime’s president Hassan Rouhani claimed the success of the project at a meeting of the chairmen of the specialized committees of the coronavirus headquarters<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He said: “The implementation of the Smart Social Distancing Plan has reduced the spread of the disease in some provinces and created a steady trend in other provinces.” This is a shameful and blatant lie, because the statements of the regime’s officials\u00a0<\/span>contradict<\/span>\u00a0this<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ali Maher,\u00a0<\/span>a member of the Coronation Headquarters in Tehran<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0said:\u00a0<\/span>“In Tehran, it cannot be said that the situation has improved<\/span>. W<\/span>e are waiting for the effects of the new conditions to appear<\/span>.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Mohammad Reza\u00a0<\/span>Zafarghandi<\/span>, chairman of the General Assembly of the regime’s medical system, also called the method of Smart Social distancing “doomed to failure.”<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But the traffic situation in Tehran was more eloquent and embarrassing than any statement. In several news reports in various news sections, the regime’s television reported heavy traffic on Tehran’s highways and\u00a0<\/span>streets and<\/span>\u00a0said that traffic in Tehran had increased by 75 percent and even doubled compared to the previous year.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But perhaps more dangerous than\u00a0<\/span>vehicles\u2019<\/span>\u00a0traffic was the\u00a0<\/span>social dense traffic<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>on<\/span>\u00a0the subway and buses.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The state-run\u00a0<\/span>Resalat<\/span>\u00a0newspaper in an article on April 18, while reminding that the government’s assessments had rated the share of the\u00a0<\/span>public transport fleet in the transmission of the coronavirus among other factors as between 25 and 30 percent, wrote<\/span>:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“<\/span>The l<\/span>ives of 350,000 subway passengers are at risk, and sooner or later the consequences of this will be revealed in the number of victims and casualties caused by the virus.”<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Iranian regime\u2019s supreme leader Ali Khamenei and its president Hassan Rouhani are aware of these facts and data.\u00a0<\/span>They canceled the quarantine with full knowledge over its subsequent huge human casualties. As the regime\u2019s state-run\u00a0<\/span>newspapers wrote, Khamenei and Rouhani, in the twofold of \u201clives or security,\u201d or clearly, between people\u2019s lives and the regime\u2019s security,\u00a0<\/span>chose the survival and security of the regime, which they define as\u00a0<\/span>obligatory<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The coronavirus crisis has put the regime in a deadly deadlock. <\/span>On\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>one hand, with the continuation of\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>quarantine, the regime had to cover\u00a0<\/span>people\u2019s expenses, particularly those of the\u00a0<\/span>poor,\u00a0<\/span>i.e.\u00a0<\/span>much of<\/span>\u00a0the society, or it had to confront the army of hungr<\/span>y people<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On the other hand,<\/span>\u00a0by\u00a0<\/span>end<\/span>ing<\/span>\u00a0the incomplete quarantine<\/span>, it must accept<\/span>\u00a0its huge human casualties to control the economic situation for a short period of time.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet,\u00a0<\/span>as the state-run media acknowledged, ending quarantine under these circumstances will\u00a0<\/span>make the society explosive along with increasing human casualties.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The state-run\u00a0<\/span>Mosta<\/span>q<\/span>el<\/span>\u00a0daily, in an article on April 18 while referring to what it call<\/span>ed<\/span>\u00a0the \u201ccriti<\/span>cal economic situation of\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>country and the coronavirus outbreak which intensifies it,\u201d remind<\/span>ed<\/span>\u00a0that this situation \u201ccould result in\u00a0<\/span>violent rebellions and protests.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The regime, in a fatal deadlock between bad and worse, chose the bad<\/span>. Although the Iranian people will pay the price with\u00a0<\/span>a\u00a0<\/span>high casualty rate,\u00a0<\/span>but the current Iranian society, as\u00a0<\/span>restive and scorching\u00a0<\/span>as\u00a0<\/span>it is due to injustice, poverty, inequality<\/span>\u00a0and repression, await a spark to explode.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The coronavirus crisis<\/a>, with its large human casualties,\u00a0<\/span>occurs in<\/span>\u00a0such a society. The ruling mullahs think that the Iranian people are losing their ability to rise up due to the grief and helplessness caused by this tragedy, but this analysis is a deadly strategic mistake of the kind that all dictators make as they reach their end<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
