In the past two days alone, two prisoners were hanged publicly and two more sentenced to death, bringing the number of those hanged or sentenced to death in the past 10 days to eight and three respectively.
Kayhan wrote on July 14 that Ali Saffarpour Rajabi, 20, was publicly hanged in Pol-e Dokhtar (western Iran) on the charge of killing a Revolutionary Guard. He was 16 at the time of the alleged offense and had been imprisoned since 2001.
Etemad daily wrote today that Evazzali Husseinzadeh was hanged in public in the northwestern city of Ardabil on Thursday. He had been charged with murder in 1999.
On July 14, Hamshahri daily reported that the Supreme Court had upheld execution verdicts for two persons, who will be hanged shortly.
The Iranian Resistance again urges the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Human Rights Commission, the General Assembly and other international human rights organizations to condemn the increase in the violation of human rights Iran and the recent wave of executions, particularly of juveniles. It also reiterates the need for the appointment of a special rapporteur and the referral of the Iranian regime’s horrific rights record to the UN Security Council.
