House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) <a href=\"https:\/\/foreignaffairs.house.gov\/press-release\/chairman-royce-statement-enactment-iran-sanctions-extension-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"alternate noopener noreferrer\">released<\/a> the following statement on enactment of his bill, H.R. 6297, to extend the Iran Sanctions Act for a decade:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIran\u2019s support for terrorism, and its push to develop a missile capable of striking the United States, is a direct threat to our national security. This legislation renews existing sanctions \u2013 which were not part of President Obama\u2019s nuclear agreement \u2013 to counter Iran\u2019s illicit missiles program. And it ensures the Trump administration can \u2018snap-back\u2019 other powerful sanctions when the ayatollah makes a rush for a nuclear weapon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo don\u2019t be fooled by Tehran\u2019s rhetoric. Iran is the only party that has broken terms of the deal.
