A month after reopening the economy, coronavirus spreads more and claims more lives across Iran<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK)<\/a> announced on Tuesday that the coronavirus death toll\u00a0<\/span>in Iran\u00a0<\/span>has surpassed 41,000<\/a><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0The disease continues to rapidly across Iran<\/span>\u00a0and claim more lives due to the regime\u2019s criminal decision to send people back to work.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since the coronavirus outbreak, the Iranian<\/span>\u00a0regime<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>has initiated a campaign of cover-up and deception. They\u00a0<\/span>have\u00a0<\/span>put the\u00a0<\/span>death toll at less than 7,000<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0contradicting the situation on the ground.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Along with its cover-up, the mullahs\u2019 regime has ever since tried to downplay the extent of th<\/span>is crisis. The regime\u2019s officials refused to quarantine the city of Qom, where\u00a0<\/span>the virus was first detected, and subsequently, they refused to issue a national quarantining order. After\u00a0<\/span>they reluctantly did,\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>mullahs refused to financially back the Iranian people, who even before the coronavirus outbreak were experiencing economic hardships<\/span>\u00a0due to the regime\u2019s institutionalized corruption and wrong economic policies.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0This so-called quarantining quickly resulted in more people joining the army of hungries across Iran. Fearing a possible social outrage<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>the regime\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0supreme leader Ali Khamenei\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>mullahs\u2019 president Hassan Rouhani\u00a0<\/span>quickly ordered people back to work amid the coronavirus outbreak. Many of the regime\u2019s officials warned of the inevitable\u00a0<\/span>rising death toll following this decision, but Rouhani\u00a0<\/span>and Khamenei prioritiz<\/span>ed<\/span>\u00a0the regime\u2019s security over people\u2019s lives\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>insisted o<\/span>n\u00a0<\/span>reopening economic activities. Rouhani\u2019s remarks\u00a0<\/span>in\u00a0<\/span>this regard<\/span>\u00a0elucidates\u00a0<\/span>the situation<\/span>:\u00a0<\/span>\u201cThe coronavirus is a disease, yet unemployment is a great danger. The coronavirus death should not be contained while there will be deaths due to poverty and unemployment.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now<\/span>, the<\/span>\u00a0regime\u2019s officials and state-run media are\u00a0<\/span>simultaneously speaking of the death toll increasing\u00a0<\/span>rapidly, particularly in Khuzestan<\/span>\u00a0and<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Lorestan provinces and\u00a0<\/span>Tehran and<\/span>\u00a0warn about a possible social uprising.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The state-run ISNA news agency reported on Tuesday: \u201cAccording to the\u00a0<\/span>Epidemiology Committee of the Health Ministry<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0the upward trend or the beginning of the peak is observed in eight provinces, including Lorestan, Mazandaran, Khuzestan, Kerman, Central,\u00a0<\/span>Kohgiluyeh<\/span>\u00a0and Boyer-Ahmad,\u00a0<\/span>Ilam<\/span>, and Hamedan<\/span>.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The state<\/span>-run\u00a0<\/span>news agency\u00a0<\/span>Mehr<\/span>\u00a0quoting Kerman\u2019s vice chairman of the University of Medical Sciences today reported a \u201csignificant increase in the number of Coronavirus infections in the province in recent days.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Monday,\u00a0Massoud\u00a0<\/span>Mardani<\/span>, a member of National Coronavirus Combat Taskforce (NCCT), told the state-run daily, Donya-e-<\/span>Eqtesad<\/span>:<\/span>\u00a0\u201cThe virus has spread exponentially in Tehran,\u00a0Gilan, Semnan, and Khuzestan provinces in recent days \u2026 Sadly, the second wave of the outbreak in Khuzestan has been much worse than expected, and the same situation may follow for other provinces.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Khuzestan Governor\u00a0<\/span>Gholamreza<\/span>\u00a0Shariati,\u00a0<\/span>in an interview with<\/span>\u00a0the state-run\u00a0<\/span>Entekhab<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>daily<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0said<\/span>:<\/span>\u00a0\u201cThe number of\u00a0<\/span>the c<\/span>oronavirus patients in Khuzestan has increased by 200% in the last month \u2026 and the number of hospitalized patients has increased by 60%.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Saturday, the regime\u2019s Health Ministry spokesman\u00a0<\/span>Kianoush<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Jahanpour<\/span>\u00a0wrote on twitter: \u201cIn the past 24 hours, Tehran and Khuzestan h<\/span>ave\u00a0<\/span>accounted for nearly half of all hospital referrals for COVID-19. Khuzestan is on the verge of explosion.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In this regard, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)<\/a>, had earlier said: “The astounding rise in the coronavirus death toll and the upward trend of the crisis in many provinces, like Khuzestan, Lorestan, Central, and\u00a0<\/span>Hormozgan<\/span>, are entirely due to the clerical regime\u2019s inhuman policies.” She added:\u00a0 “The only thing the mullahs are concerned about is to preserve their disgraceful rule. The Iranian people\u2019s wealth has been squandered in the unpatriotic nuclear and missile projects, as well as in the export of terrorism and warmongering. In the first few months of the crisis, no serious assistance was provided to those infected, the deprived, and the destitute out of hundreds of billions of\u00a0<\/span>dollars\u2019<\/span>\u00a0worth of public wealth under the control of Khamenei and the IRGC.”<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The regime\u2019s deadlock in handling the coronavirus outbreak has increased the possibility of social\u00a0<\/span>turmoil and<\/span>\u00a0has frightened the regime\u2019s officials.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ahmad\u00a0<\/span>Naderi<\/span>, one of the regime\u2019s officials<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0told the state-run\u00a0<\/span>Resalat<\/span>\u00a0daily on March 7: \u201cI am worried about the social and security outcome of this crisis. Soon, rebellions, much larger than the ones in 2018 and 2019 and certainly much larger than the ones in the 1990s, will happen.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
