These executions were carried out in the prisons of Karaj (west of Tehran) and Ghazvin (northwest Iran).<\/p>\n<p>Karaj Central Prison was the scene of four inmates hanged on Tuesday, January 3.<\/p>\n<p>Three prisoners aged 30, 34 and 36 were also hanged in Ghazvin Prison on January 2 and 3.<\/p>\n<p>Another inmate, aged 33, was transferred to Sepidar Prison in the city of Ahvaz in preparation for his execution.<\/p>\n<p>Mohammad Javad Larijani, secretary of Iran\u2019s so-called \u201cHuman Rights Department,\u201d is known to theorize torture and executions in Iran through schemes such as \u201cdecreasing and replacing death sentences\u201d meant to deceive Western countries.<\/p>\n<p>However, Larijani has once again emphasized on \u201cfirm and heavy punishments for drug-related charges.\u201d (State-run Asr-e Iran daily \u2013 December 25, 2016)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran<\/strong><br \/><strong>January 3, 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Unable to reign in its political and economic crises, and concerned over possible nationwide uprisings, the inhumane mullahs&rsquo; regime in Iran has resorted to sending seven prisoners to the gallows [&#8230;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":10,"featured_media":45467,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[171],"tags":[175],"class_list":{"0":"post-21861","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-statement-human-rights","8":"tag-updated"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
