In an interview with the state-run\u00a0<\/span>Etemad<\/span>\u00a0O<\/span>nline news agency<\/span>\u00a0published on May 20,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Heshmatollah<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Falahatpisheh<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>a\u00a0<\/span>Member<\/span>\u00a0of<\/span>\u00a0Parliament from Kermanshah\u00a0<\/span>and member of the Majlis (Parliament)\u00a0<\/span>National\u00a0<\/span>Security Commission, acknowledged\u00a0<\/span>how the mullahs\u2019 regime been wasting national wealth to fund Syrian dictator Bashar-al\u00a0<\/span>Assad<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I went to Syria, some complained that I had caused expenses, but I will say this again: We may have given $20-30 billion to Syria. The money of\u00a0<\/span>our\u00a0<\/span>people was spent there,\u201d\u00a0<\/span>Felahatpisheh<\/span>\u00a0said.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On May 20, the state-run Etemad Online published an interview with Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh. In March, in his interview, Falahatpisheh admitted #Iran<\/a> has granted $20-30 billion to prop the Assad regime in #Syria<\/a> while 60% of Iranian families have pushed below the #poverty<\/a> line. pic.twitter.com\/mE11FsEiSc<\/a><\/p>\n

When\u00a0<\/span>F<\/span>a<\/span>lahatpisheh<\/span>\u00a0was the chairman of the\u00a0<\/span>National\u00a0<\/span>Security Commission, he led a parliamentary delegation to Syria, where he met with Emad Khamis, the Prime Minister of the Assad regime.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the information revealed<\/span> on December 6, 2017,<\/span>\u00a0by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)<\/a><\/span>, which w<\/span>as\u00a0<\/span>obtained by the People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK)<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>network from inside the regime<\/span>, in return for the expenses incurred by the clerical regime in Syria, on January 17, 2017, the Syrian Prime Minister, Emad Khamis signed an agreement with<\/span>\u00a0the Iranian<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>regime’s vice president\u00a0<\/span>Eshaq<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Jahangiri<\/span>, to return the money spent by the regime within 25 years (<\/span>e<\/span>xtendable for up to 40 years.) The plan included six major contracts. The regime considered this agreement with Syria a strategic project for itself.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the information published by the NCRI<\/a>, these projects,\u00a0<\/span>which were planned and implemented by the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and under the supervision of the regime\u2019s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei,<\/span>\u00a0were<\/span>\u00a0worth<\/span>\u00a0over $20 billion dollars.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The volume of the project to pay the Syrian debt to the regime is estimated at $20 billion, according to a debate in the regime’s Supreme National Security Council. This amount includes only the oil and credit that the Iranian government has paid to Syria during Bashar al-Assad’s rule, especially during the war. Of this amount, the cost of oil given to Syria by the regime is estimated at least $8 billion. This amount does not include the regime’s military and weapons aid to the Syrian army and government, which is several times the amount.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Iranian regime entered the Syrian war since it broke out in 2011 and has been propping up Assad\u2019s regime since then. In addition to its financial support, the mullahs\u2019 regime has been constantly sending weapons and armed forces to the country to prevent the overthrow\u00a0<\/span>of\u00a0<\/span>Bashar al-Assad. According to the estimates made by the Iranian Resistance, the regime may have spent up to $100 billion on the Syrian war.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In another part of his interview, F<\/span>a<\/span>lahatpisheh, while referring to the Iranian restive society and the nationwide Iran protests which erupted in November after the sudden gas price hike said:<\/span>\u00a0\u201c<\/span>How many economic problems do we have in the country? The increase in gasoline prices generates 2 trillion\u00a0<\/span>rials<\/span>\u00a0per day. This is the average revenue generated by the increase in gasoline prices and selling the surplus to other countries. We can distribute this 200 trillion\u00a0<\/span>rial<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0to the provinces to solve their problems. This is just part of the revenue<\/span>.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn the budget, oil revenue\u00a0<\/span>is\u00a0<\/span>equal to a fourth of the share of taxes. This means\u00a0<\/span>that it<\/span>\u00a0is the people who are paying for the country\u2019s expenses. And this is a country that is sitting on a sea of oil,\u201d\u00a0<\/span>Felahatpisheh<\/span>\u00a0said. \u201cIf we consider all of this, it means that we have the necessary budget to solve the country\u2019s economic problems, that is, if the budget is not spent on other things.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

F<\/span>a<\/span>lahatpisheh mad<\/span>e\u00a0<\/span>these<\/span>\u00a0remarks, while the regime<\/span>, citing economic problems,<\/span>\u00a0has forced the Iranian people to go back to work amid the coronavirus outbreak, which has so far, according to the MEK, claimed\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>live<\/span>s\u00a0<\/span>of nearly 44,000<\/span>\u00a0people.\u00a0 In addition, the regime\u2019s officials and apologists try to\u00a0<\/span>blame\u00a0<\/span>U.S. sanction<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0for the coronavirus crisis in Iran, to<\/span>\u00a0receive more money<\/span>\u00a0to further increase their illicit activities.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While refusing to help people financially during the quarantine, the<\/span>\u00a0regime force<\/span>d the Iranian<\/span>\u00a0people\u00a0<\/span>back\u00a0<\/span>to work\u00a0<\/span>because\u00a0<\/span>it\u00a0<\/span>was terrified of the army of hungry expanding daily and the possibility of a nationwide uprising. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the NCRI\u2019s<\/a> president-elect<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0has said: \u201c<\/span>For Khamenei and Rouhani, the lives and well-being of the people are worthless. They only want to protect their regime from the threat of uprising. The criminal decision to send people to work is a crime against humanity and will cause countless number of victims\u00a0<\/span>of the\u00a0<\/span>COVID<\/span>–<\/span>19\u00a0<\/span>in\u00a0<\/span>Iran<\/span>.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
